CLT paychecks not received

It was not rhetorical, I asked you what do you think the arbiter ruled on the case?
It is a real live case that has happened.

Here's a real live case that recently happened, and ALPA lost this past practice grievance: The FAR's have always said that pilots could not work 7 days in a row. And since 1999, the FAA said that also meant that a Reserve pilot could not be scheduled on duty for more than 6 consecutive days, so the 7th day (which happens usually on a transition from 1 month to the next) was on off day, based on legality, and that's been the practice since then.

After LOA 93 went into effect, the company started giving Reserve pilots a different day off other than the 7th one, which penalized some financially from flying on a day when they were actually legal to fly. Anyway, ALPA grieved it and lost, as the arbitrator said circumstances changed, yet the FAR and it's interpretation is exactly the same as it's always been. Seemed like a slam dunk, but not this time.

An arbitrator is political, and is not always a true "neutral." There is no such thing as a slam dunk, past practice or not, and grievance awards that would be very expensive to the company if they lost, almost always are awarded to the company, not the union. If an arbitrator rules for the union too many times, word gets around, and guess what, that arbitrator is not getting work anymore, what a surprise! Sure he awards for the union sometimes, but he knows where his paycheck is really coming from; he's no dummy.

P.S. The pilot contract says that days off will always be a minimum of 2, so now that they're giving off days on days when you're really legal to work, they owe you one more! I think that's a hoot. Of course the company is not doing that, so maybe another grievance will be filed, this one not on past practice though. Who knows how that one will go.

US required just that with the FA group. The only downside (IMO) was that it went to the Credit Union. So I ended up writing two checks a month on my Credit Union account to my “realâ€￾ bank.

Sometime in the mid 90’s we were able to have the funds deposited to any institution we chose.
where have you been. at first the CU was the only choice...that changed some time back...my check goes to "real bank" not bashing CU still use them for some things as well...or you can still get a paper check if you want...why would anyone want a paper check...I know of little old ladys that have there SS checks direct deposit I know P Bob says it's a trust issue...kinda like TSA they need to trust filght crews to have UAS at all US stations...ooops sorry wrong thread  going to enjoy weekend now told spouse I would stop stirring the pot on here...but it's so fun

since CLT is an older workforce there is probably a lower percentege of Direct Deposit there than in PHX or LAS based on age of workforce alone.

Not really true.
In Philly it's the youngsters that want paper checks.....they don't have bank accounts!
They go to the check cashing place at the airport.

Don't see the problem here. Payday is Friday...got checks on FRIDAY...you want paid on Thursday...Direct Deposit...get with the times and move on

Hate to break it to you but some people work 3rd shift, their Friday shift starts at 11 pm the previous night and end at 7am the following morning. Nice to have the check to deposit in the am when the banks open. Hold up the checks for the "normal" 9-5'rs until Sat and see what happens!!! You may then have a problem with it!!!

<SNIP> where have you been. at first the CU was the only choice...that changed some time back...my check goes to "real bank" not bashing CU still use them for some things as well...
You just said the same thing as me. Decaf by mistake this morning?

<SNIP> In my world which is copiers and printers, the folks most liekly to use and store paper are older generally less computer savvy.
Then there’s my grandmother; we got her a computer 6-7 years ago. Now she teaches a class for seniors about the internet. Not bad for 90.

I am new to the industry, coming from an industry without unionized labor. I would like to hear from all on this board what their opinions are of labor unions to help me form my opinion.
Thanks in advance.

Nostradamus thoughts:

I think paychecks coming a day later than the norm happens and one must live with it, But for someone who claims to be new to this industry, your post of 8/9 compared to 8/18 sure shows a very quick study of ailine lingo. IE: A14 PO PAWOB
Thanks for noticing, Nostradamus. I've put a great deal of effort into learning the lingo.
