CLT to lose deicing?

Deicing was taken away from MTC exclusive work in 2005 when our CBA was abrogated

I believe some airports in Europe require use of their ramp vendors.

But, that is Europe and the vendors are likely union.

All of the Ramp and Ops work is vendored in Europe. Typically the are very good jobs over there.

The only work in a class 1 station that can be contracted out as far as the fleet service cba is concerned, is mentioned in art 4a paragraph 3 & 4. Much of paragraph 4 is already contracted out in clt, ex: lav service, cleaning aircraft interiors, water, etc. However regular ramp work can not be contracted out in any class 1 station under our current cba. As far as paragraph 3 is concerned, it is protected from being contracted out in clt based on art 3b paragraph b.

Having been deiced by multiple vendors, it can and is kinda scary. The FAA is cool with it as long as the mtx manuals and everything are up to date with how they are to be trained and follow our procedures. After that it's a crap shot. Worst case was STL with a vender that claimed we were clean, f/a rang us, and said she saw ice still on wings. After multiple communications and such we finally pulled a/c back into gate and went out to check it ourselves. The amount of ice and snow we found on te airplane was terrifying..........screw outsourcing...
