I guess Tempe never heard the old adage " It costs money to make money" If we want good long term profits we are going to have to spend some to upgrade all our systems and service and stop trying to do things half assed.
You forgot about the "award winning" new website, too, which to the FF community was the evidence to predict what happened today. :down:Just look at what the Sandcastle has done so far.
1) A second rate res system
2) Reconfigured AC and made them some of the most uncomfortable fleets in the industry. Just ask Phl what they do with the last row of coach on the 330's. they block it because no one other than a midget can fit.
3) Reconfigured the 321's and make a marginal transcon ac , a useless ac for transcon.
4) Reconfigured the 320 and take out all the FC closets and make a resonably good FC service in a non existent one.
Folks, as an experienced ITer who has done many, many systems migrations, issues are bound to crop up that never appeared in testing. Let's give them a few days. I'll be throwing stones if the major issues are cleared up by Tuesday or Wednesday, but the first 24-48 hours are always tough. Where I think US apparently went wrong is by not having enough staff at the airports ... every employee who didn't work last night and wasn't on vacation/approved leave should have been scheduled to work or on standby to come in this morning.
Ok, so here's an interesting tidbit: With the HP code now gone, I can't seem to get any America West flights to come up on Orbitz. I just tried DCA-PHX, PHX-SNA and SNA-LAS, but only connections on US Airways (old East) come up. Is there a codesharing loading problem?
You don't think they considered that? What they should have done was do this in stages.
Wow -- what a difficult prediction to make, that some things will go wrong during such a massive and complex project! I am in awe of your ability to see the future! No Bear, many of us warned that this would probably happen.
Can you now predict what the weather will be in Ithaca, NY on September 2, 2008?
Because it stay SABERsome of you are too dramatic.I remember when Sabre was introduced and all of the weight and balance snafus that occured. At least that part of the operation seems to be working okay.
I had IT training, but my field is in Network Admin, new installs. No I don't have all the answers, just putting out some ideas. And NO I don't think they considered that. Their track record isn't so good, so I would not put that down as a givin. You don't think they considered that?
Are you in IT? If not, why not, since you have all the answers?
If you had a piece of paper agents put you on the plane. Manually counting tickets just like the old days. Very old system that needs to be upgraded. Very labor intense pre and post departureManually counting tickets AGAIN!
Groundhog day all over .....
Bueller.Bueller
Excellent.
So if you're wrong, you'll have no problem with all of us coming on here and telling you how stupid you are.
