Computers fail

Of course everything would be working in PHX, they did not cutover, they are all ready on SHARES.
NOT the Easties 700UW. Today was the cutover for about thirty in Phoenix and it went smooth as silk. No long lines, very FEW computor glitches and lots of help from the HP agents and Managers, Passengers seemed pretty happy too.

Let's see - lots of computers and kiosks that already worked with SHARES, plenty of agents and managers already very familiar with SHARES, and only about 30 new flights to work in SHARES. It's a wonder that PHX didn't come to a complete halt.

I guess CLT's 400+ EAST flights, with no computers/kiosks that had ever been hooked to SHARES and few people that had used SHARES should have been a cakewalk.....

Excellent.

So if you're wrong, you'll have no problem with all of us coming on here and telling you how stupid you are.
Please dont call hp fa stupid. Its rude and speaking from personal experience, far from the truth, in fact, just the opposite!! There are lots of differing opinions on how this migration should have been done and the consequences of how it was done. Its could've, would've and should've. We'll get thru this just like everything else because you are professionals!! To my fellow employees,(this is what I would say IF I was an employee) Thank you for helping our customers by performing Above and Beyond all day. Some stations were knocked pretty heavily but your experience and dedication got everyone thru. You should all be proud of yourselves. This is a major step is closing the divide between east and west. I cant wait to say "I remember when..." Again, Thanks for all that you do. Mama

Not 30 flts, 30 AGENTS! We had Sabre NOT qik. Phx doesn't have a magic wand over it just because its home to HP. Maybe we just want to work with each other instead of rip each other apart and complain.

Delays have to be expected on the first day of the cutover; I say give it a few days before we start blaming Tempe......

I hope you are not in customer service. As a customer I would expect no delays, migration to be flawless and service with a smile. This may not be realistic but to think we should expect this is nonsense.

PS: I wonder if they did any time studies to determine the extra costs of manually processing the BP since there are no longer any Barcodes?

Sorry, when you said "cutover for about 30" I thought you meant flights.

So how many kiosks did you have working for check-in? How many PHX agents were very familiar with QIK? Care to compare those numbers with CLT, PHL, etc, before you label as "complainers" the folks that did their best in spite of the mess handed to them this morning?

Jim

The west must be drinking out of doogies cup.
Philadelphia agents abused once again !

dont worry...they will probably have a raffle of a brand new plasma or ipod for you guys in philly...give it some time

Bear, no offense but what are you smoking? Bob, At least Im in good company!! Must be the blonde, I still dont get it! Mama

therein lies one of the problems....the company should have had /asked pre merger west agents to offer to help in the hubs. I saw a tiny memo on a PHX based bulletin board-Shift B- about anyone in PHX wanting to go to CLT to assist...but never in any of the field stations. Where were all the assist agents==the qik assist ones traveling allover? Instead of offering all kinds of incentives to one major hub just for showing up to work, they should have offered incentives for pre merger west employees to go to the mainly sabre cities-east hubs-to assist. Then again, did these cities even attempt to use the system these past few months? That was the purpose --to get used to it to some degree. Just my 2 cents....but I see we are back to HP bashing on this board....cheez....nothing changes....
yep we had many glitches in my city...but we all worked together and got through it. This, I think, is what made the difference. Both east and west worked together...but then we have been for several months now. What did we do before kiosks? I think the cutover went fairly well...I just think that the training on the "new" system did not...once again, more westies to help out in these east hubs would have made a differnce. ONe "westie" per 5 easties would have helped....

You don't think they considered that?

Are you in IT? If not, why not, since you have all the answers?
Wow -- what a difficult prediction to make, that some things will go wrong during such a massive and complex project! I am in awe of your ability to see the future!

Can you now predict what the weather will be in Ithaca, NY on September 2, 2008?

Bear,
With any other group I would agree with you, but this management team made big claims to little disruption. WRONG!!

And if you took the moment to read, it is the lack of COMMUNICATING to the customer that really sucks. The customer...what a concept. <_<

You both accused me of calling hp fa stupid. A fair reading of my post would show I did no such thing.

From my perspective Bear was trying to make some point about prognosticating the future and asked what the weather would be in Ithica (I hope it was NY) on some date in September, 2008. Being I went to collage near there I guessed what the weather would be based on experience.

Frankly, I don't think he expected a response but then asked me if he could call me stupid in 9/08 if I was wrong on my guess (which is probably as good as National Weather Service guesses) and I said "yup". I have no problem with it. I was playing along (at least from my perspective).

Bear, what is my prize for being correct? 🙂

Now I return you to your normal thread.

BTW, thanks to those who thought he called me stupid. It's good to have friends.

The company did send some agents out to help other cities, mainly hubs, but they could have done more.

HOWEVER!! The IT portion of this transition went very well and I'm sorry to disappoint all of the IT bashers.
