Just got hired on with America West/US Air west, still trying to get a grasp on the unions/what exactly is going on with them. The main concern i see from what im hearing is what happens if IAM takes over as represnting ramp. The news is saying possibly 22 stations closed/outsourced, but what else would happen on us air west side? If IAM does take over will this create a whole new contract for us air east/west or just take over what us air east already has?

Not trying to start any wars here, just trying to understand whats going on.

All you will find here is mudslinging from people who are loyal to their favored union (some of which you have already heard from reading your post) and management posing as unionists so they can get a decertification vote.

Under the IAM contract, DEN would most likely be a target for ramp outsourcing. Management most probably has plans to allow relocation of outsourced employees to hubs, primarily PHL and PHX. There are many open positions in PHX.

US has ramp agents in DEN?

As far as I know which contract remains in place has little to do with which union is in place.

So its not like as if you vote in the IAM you automatically get the IAM/USAIR contract or if you vote in the TWU you get to keep your AWA contract under the new USAIR.

Its more like if USAIR is determined to be the surviving company after the merger you get the USAIR contract.

So you could end up with the TWU under the USIAR contract that was negotiated with the IAM. Either way the company could do as they like with those stations.

That's BS through and through. Read, ask questions, educate yourself and make your own decisions......informed ones at that.
