Perhaps Parker is hoping someone will outbid our bid for DL, and then he can make a bid on another airline, say NW. Seems like such a scenario would make alot more sense, albeit less than leaving things the way they are now especially since US/HP isn't even fully merged.

Why would you think that?

You start a bidding war, that drives up the price of every carrier, so that you can pay more for another airline? I hope Parker is smarter than that.

I think it more likely an airline bidding war would drive up the price of any "parts" Parker needs to divest himself of in order to pass muster with the DOJ, but then, what do I know?

I think it even possible Parker will get most, if not all, of his "cash" back just from divestments.
