Captain Lyle Newman - USAirways

Captain Lyle Newman passed away suddenly yesterday evening, way too far from retirement and with too many things in life he still wanted to do.

Anyone who knew Lyle knew that he was a true gentleman, a dedicated pilot, a rabid Saints fan and above all, madly in love with his wife.

He had a great sense of humor and was a true wit. I was honored to be considered among his friends. He is going to be very sorely missed.

Blue skies and tailwinds my friend...

WHO DAT!

Good travels, Lyle. Threre's no spoilers where you are, so we'll all watch together to see if your Saints will be the first to win the Super Bowl at home.

Who Dat!

I saw the news about Lyle on Facebook. His name didn't ring a bell at first. The 1st pic I saw was unfamiliar, another pic from this morning revealed someone who was always kind to agents and seemed to always be in a good mood. I am sorry for all those who have lost a friend. RIP.

Lyle always seemed to have a smile on his face. No matter who he was talking to, pilots, gate agents, etc he acted like he had known them for years.

I had not seen him in a couple years, but he will be missed as one of the good guys.

RIP Lyle.

Lyle was the consummate gentleman. I remember telling him that I was trying to make Red Beans and Rice with little success. He ventured that I was using the wrong brand of beans. Not long after that I found two one-pound bags of Camilla beans in my V-file.

Better places my friend

On Friday Captain Lyle Newman suffered a massive heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. He had internal bleeding and the ER Staff could not save him. There is not a finer person, pilot advocate, or ALPA official than Lyle.

Lyle will be missed by all. God bless Lyle, his wife Wanda, and their family.
