Critics Circle Over United Recovery Plan

The article above states "This airline is rudderless," said Michael Boyd, founder of the Boyd Group, Evergreen, Colo., an airline consulting firm. "They need direction from the top or they're not going anyplace."

Chip asks: Who first said on this message board there were Wall Street reports that United management was stuck in a quagmire of mud?

The article continues, United also seemed uncertain about its prospects. "It remains to be seen whether the revenue recovery will be short- or long-lived," said James Sprayregen, UAL bankruptcy attorney, in court. Many industry observers worry about how airlines will fare once demand tapers off after the Labor Day holiday.

Chip asks: Who first made these type of comments on this message board?

Another interesting point from the article, "It's hard to ferret-out what is a blip and what is a recovery," said Nicolas Owens, airline analysts, Morningstar Inc., a Chicago-based investment research firm. "It's more likely that (recent operating profit) is a blip."

Chip:

This whole post was totally unnecessary and a childish attempt at "I told you so". It is very sad that, as an adult, you reduce yourself to the level of a 9 year old.

9 year old? I have a 9 year old and I resent the implication that he could be that immature (or that his reasoning skills could be so flawed)

Don't let the chipper get you
Don't let the chipper get you

Stay way way away"

Interesting how he can spend so much time and energy on what's going on or not going on with UAL. United who is taking a slower more methodical approach to BK, should commended for doing that. Who wants to end up like UsAirways, in and out of BK, giving a large percentage of the company away for the price of a loan. Lowered cost got rid of planes leases and gates. Renegotiated everything and still is no closer to making an operating profit. United is going a more sensible route.

F A Mikey:

Thankyou, you are absolutely correct. United is being run by strong, sensible senior management team. United is a much larger operation than US Airways and Hawaiian Air. Thus, it stands to reason, United will take a much longer time to navigate its way through BK. Mr. Spraeygan of the prestigious Kirkland and Ellis law firm follows the firm's more conservative, cautious and, needless to say, well-respected approach to the practice of law.

Sorry 767jetz. It appears someone felt you were not PC on the other thread.

Just to be clear, if you experience someone in your life, be it at UA or elsewhere, your only course of action is to ignore them. Responding only feeds their supply.

Be careful not to confront them with this information, as they will respond with fierce denial, redirection, and counter attacks. Every criticism,no matter how constructive or accurate, is seen as a personal attack.

Just can't help but wonder if the chipper has received any replies to his job applications as "Airline Analyze"?

I agree. We in the airline industry are all still suffering . As a DAL employee, I do not wish the demise of any airline, not to mention their employees. I do not understand the path that Chip has chosen to take, but do not agree at all. I wish all of us the best of luck.
