Having a disscusion here in the coffee room this am regarding the 412 (Griffon) that Bell put out for the military.

If I remember correctly from some of our convo''s that they were to be kept up to civie standards IE; could be transfered / sold / gave away to a commercial operator at anytime after some gear was removed.

Is this true, and are they being kept up to that standard.

thanks

Yes, the Griffon is a certified 412EP in every way, except for some mission-specific stuff the forces wanted - avionics, NVG gear, and some minor ergonomic changes in the office. This is so they can sell/transfer them as required.

Take their stuff out and put it back in standard configuration (minimal work required) and you got yourself an abused, neglected 412EP.

Hearing your voice on the phone has enlightened my whole day

thanks for the answer there big dog, glad yer guts are feelin better

How would one go about proving comformity to the type cert? I think that is what was the problem with the Jetrangers that midwest / Field did for DND wasn''t it?

That''s why they went this route and bought certified aircraft, the 206s, 205s and 212s were "military" from the git-go, and had never been certified. Therefore, they could not be brought into the commercial world.

CTD :
What I was asking about was ;the Jetranger Three
helicopters that were purchased as comercial aircraft and then operated as military CH? then returned to comercial helicopters by field and Midwest. Was process would of been used to check conformity to the type cert? Would this not be the same process to return the Griffon to comercial 412EP,s? Just asking what process is it? as it has been done before
