What's new

Cutover Weekend

This past week has been absolutely horrendous..with all the weather delays and cancellations...Sunday was an absolute nightmare! Especially in the Florida cities..add OVERBOOKINGS to that scenario...I'm glad we didn't CUTOVER this week, cause it almost certainly would have been a disaster. 🙄

Does anyone know what the projected systemwide passenger bookings are for Sunday, March 4th??

Indeed it's a HUGE MISTAKE to dump SABRE for SHARES! Tempe just wants whatever is cheapest and easiest (in their minds). Too cheap to keep paying $$$$ to SABRE for a far more superior reservations system which is GLOBAL!

It's an easy decision. SHARES is very comparable to SABRE. SABRE is WAY over priced...something like 5 times the cost of SHARES from what I hear. It's in the multiple millions more. This is one decision that was prudent.

As I stated in another thread, the ramp received a manual on SHARES last Friday in PIT, and that is the extent of the training we have received. If an agent can't figure out bag and passenger counts quickly, there are going to be numerous delays while the agents thumb through their booklets looking for instructions.

I have been involved in the Qik/Sabre project for quite
a few months. Almost all stations have had Qik/Sabre
in place for at least a month of usage. Alot of stations
had it before the end of the year. Problem was stations did not use it after the assit team left. Some stations made their agents use it so they would know path come cutover day. That was the way it was intended to be used. For the stations and the agents that used Qik/Sabre the cutover to Qik/Shares will be easy. Yes things will look different but the path you use is the same. Qik/Shares is very easy to use. And not as backward as you think. NRSA passes much easier to do, including ZEDs. And the product we will have will be enhanced as we go forward. Having out own IT dept makes it easier to make those changes with little cost. And not have to wait months for something like we did with Sabre. And to finally have one system will make it so much better for our customers.
Your're kidding right?

This is the most regressed system I've seen yet!
The comp is savng for 200,000.00 for what?

ALready talked to the mgr that flts will not be ot.
His answer?

That's it!

I will say a few extra prayers for ALL US Employees at Church service this weekend!

You're correct as far as you go.

The issue that has many of us concerned is given the Sandcastles past performance in general and the website in particular there is a crisis in confidence.

I assume that it will be a total cluster fornication, so no matter how bad it is I'll be pleasantly surprised

You know, I really don't know what everybody is getting so excited about. The training for QIK/Shares was not as intense as Sabre training because it's a much simpler program to operate. Anyone who has been using the QIK/Sabre program for the past trhee months will have very little trouble operating the QIK/Shares system. Sabre had a bunch of complicated string formulas that you had to type in...QIK has a key that's labled "check-in". You touch it and type in a name. Most of the whole thing is that simple. The people who have had a chance to familarize themselves with the program for the last three months and haven't done so are the ones who will suffer. They're also the ones on the board who are saying "it's awful...the're's going to be a meltdown...etc." And whoever said there should be a companywide sickout Sunday needs to just quit.

PB,SOme upper mgmt couldnt find their rear end with both hands. 😛

I have had similar problems this week. Error messages trying to book a trip last night and now I cannot access my DM account online. Just a sign of things to come? I am flying this weekend and thank goodness, I got my March 3 BPs printed and will do my March 5 ones BEFORE the integration, I hope.

I beg to to differ. Sabre (it's no longer capitalized) is a much better product. (Granted, many of the problems with with SHARES is the QIK overlay.) If SHARES is such a better value for the money, why is Sabre used by many more carriers?

In any event, it's a done deal. Let's hope the cutover is smooth and that more of the good features from Sabre can be brought over. At least, TIPS will be brought over at cutover instead of July as was once thought.

After the cut over agents will still have to access SABER to get TIPS information thru SHARES.SHARES has no data base information no way to view ticketing information no virtual ticket information. SABER will still be around to get this information not sure how it will work. And the whole operation side will be SABER. Antiquated SHARES will have to get upgrade after upgrade after upgrade after upgrade after upgrade est. to even come close to SABER. This is a fact. The agents will have to figure out what is wrong and stress to management to get is fix. It happen when management bought the cheep venison of SABER and it was upgraded many times.

Piney,
At least CO has Non Stops, and real jets!

Instead of cramming 50-70 souls in and no seats available!

Food for thought.

Bob, When is the game over? Just curious from your point of view. Regards, Mama

The company will not be happy till all customer service agents are making less than $ 10.00 hr. AirTran starts their new hires at about $2.00 more than we do...

I guess it's the new market place. It's only going to get worse...
