Delta's Theft of Funds

As I said, airlines don't compete on safety nor should they. It is everyone's job. There are, however, a few WN clones lurking these boards who need to be reminded that they don't walk on water.

nice attempt at diversion, magsau. Your original post is still tacky. Had you not posted what you did, I would have left it alone.

Since you asked so nicely, I’d be glad to.

Delta is perched very precariously between chapter 11 and chapter 7. How this came to be has been discuss at length but is irrelevant at this point.

Depending on your point of view other factors fit in, but mostly because of Delta’s condition, as well as that of the industry over the past several years, most Delta employees have taken big losses in compensation. For some those losses have been drawn out and cumulative. Over the same period others have experienced an overall increase in compensation, but they are now being asked to pony up with the rest.

Across the spectrum of employees, some have decided for themselves that the level of compensation and the uncertainty of their position can no longer justify remaining with Delta Air Lines. Those people have either gone elsewhere or are preparing to. Others have decided that it is in their best interest to stick it out a little longer. I doubt you could find a department that doesn’t have examples of both of these positions.

However, as a group, Delta pilots have *chosen* to publicly shout their displeasure with what is being asked of them. They have also publicly express willingness, if not a desire, to be the last straw that pushes the company into chapter 7. This with total disregard for the effect it has on the choices of potential customers that Delta desperately needs, or for the other 48,000 employees who still rely on Delta for their livelihood. Both of these appear to me to be the acts of a three-year-old throwing a temper tantrum. Although, now that I’ve taken the time to reconsider at your request, I guess the strike part at this time could also be the act of a thug.

======================================================

MMB,

DALPA (wisely) felt they needed "representation" to deal with DL management, so "THEY" voted "YES" to a UNION !!!

The VERY second that ALPA was their bargaining agent, meant that DALPA would "FIRST" take care of their "own", before ANYONE else.

If you think (that) solidarity selfish, I would urge you to ask any US Marine, "does "ANYTHING" come "BEFORE" taking care of your platoon" ??????? (The answer would be a RESOUNDING "NO FRIGGIN' WAY") !!!!!!!!!!!!

Why ( you might ask) did I use a "combat" analogy ???

Well In case you have'nt noticed, DALPA is "at WAR" with DL !!!!

Now, your response(if ANY) would be, ????????????????

With all due respect...fighting an enemy in a firefight, life or death situation is hardly the same as trying to ignore the economic situation when negotiating pay/benefits. So I have the same question as you...why use a "combat" analogy??? You might like it but I don't think a Marine in Iraq would like it.

Our fine men and women fighting for the freedom of a people who will get their first opportunity to vote do not give a rip about pay cuts at Delta or any other airline for that matter. There is much bigger work to be done in the world and those selfless leaders have shown they put the interests of others above their own.

Let's just hope the idea is as contagious as the smile of Iraqis parading around with their ink-stained finger - the Iraqi symbol of democracy in action.

are there any Dl employees ex or current being presured to retire or quit or fired over the age of 40 in the last 180 days. Need more employees for class action suit against dl for age discrimination presure working with the EEOC in Utah email me at fatboy@thebluezone.com thanx kevin

They will CARE when they get home and find out that while they were out fighting a vendetta war, their airline also cut their pay.

the only vendetta is what other airline employees seem to have for DL employees. Did you notice, Fly, how many OA employees were telling UA employees to shut their operation down and stand up for their labor "rights?" And did you not do what you thought was right for your situation? Why do you not think the DL employees involved in this situation will do the same? And do you not think that our military people will take care of themselves and what matters to them? And how many airline employees do you think are among the 150,000 or so US troops in Iraq?

I have not told the Delta pilots to "shut it down".

You may be surprised to know that many, many pilots are now in Iraq and I feel safe to say that some of them are pilots at Delta.

I'm sure there are some pilots in Iraq and Afghanistan, including some from Delta, Fly. Your response indicated your support to NHBB's statement that DALPA is at war w/ Delta; based on what I've read, there are alot of DL pilots who may not like what is happening to them but they are not at war with their employer nor are you willing to do anything that would harm Delta - just as you and your UA coworkers wouldn't do anything to hurt UA.

Since this discussion has nothing to do with the opening post for this topic, I suggest we close it. Feel free to open another topic if you wish to further discuss.

Geez WT, not only do you consider yourself the self appointed mouth piece for Delta, now you have appointed yourself a moderator too. :bleh:

With all due respect, you don't seem to hesitate to comment. I guess you enjoy the conversation enough to show up.

We'll chat in person at our lunch meeting so you won't feel as if you were cut off.

I love seeing a good relationship work out! I sense love in the air. 😉
