Quote from Richard Anderson today, it was attached to an anti union DVD.

"Over the next several weeks, Delta flight attendants across our system will make the most important decision of their careers. Your choice will uphold nearly eight decades of the Delta difference - a successful, direct relationship with our leadership team - or it can change our culture and spirit forever, negatively changing a great relationship."

Richard Anderson doesn't have an email listing in our company email roster. He did, I wrote to him several times, but in keeping with his direct relationship, he never responded. Then he removed it from the roster.

I wrote to Joanne Smith this week, she never responded.

I have writen to Mike Cambpell twice, he never responded.

Where is this direct relationship that we are constantly being told we have with management?

This letter just FLEW off my fingers...

Re: False claims to Delta flight attendants

Dear Richard:

I am responding to false statements you made in a letter to Delta flight attendants this week – a letter accompanied by an anti-union video -- encouraging flight attendants to deny themselves a legal contract..

Under the guise of your ‘personal experience at Northwest’, you state that when “[you] unilaterally gave pay raises and domestic partner benefits to flight attendants at Northwest, [you] received loud objections from the union…â€. We both know this statement is wrong on many levels.

First, the decision to give pay raises and domestic partner benefits to flight attendants was a decision made in early 2000 – more than a year before your term began as CEO. The 1999 decision made under former CEO, John Dasburg followed a contract proposal rejected by 70% of the flight attendant voters. More importantly, these unilateral increases were insignificant compared to the increases we held out for in negotiations and approved in our June 1, 2000 contract. By holding out we obtained contract improve-ments valued at $90 million – including domestic partner benefits and the largest pension increases we had ever seen. So, if you are going to tell our story – at least do it truthfully -- Northwest flight attendants mobilized around our contract goals – we were unified and we succeeded. That is the real story.

While I give you credit for many positive accomplishments during the time we worked together (when I was President of our union), your legacy at Northwest is not one that all employees remember as a positive experience. For example, when we formed our independent union (PFAA), you engaged in blatant union-busting tactics – including an effort to strangle the financial stability of that union. Likewise, your attempt to outsource jobs and destroy the mechanics union still resonates with many.

In addition to the above false claims, I was saddened by your refusal to fess-up to the Congressional House Judiciary Committee this past week when questioned about Delta’s ‘neutrality’ in the flight attendants vote. While earning 11.3 million last year for 4 months work – and as someone with a legal contract of his own, I can’t imagine why you are so opposed to front-line workers having their own.

Sincerely,

Danny G. Campbell, NWA Flight Attendant
(Former President of the NWA Flight Attendants’ Union)

This "direct relationship" is just another grand MYTH. I've written Sandy Gordon before and I never heard a word back, either.
And I guess the "relationship" with the pilots is so negative that they're getting:

*24 month Furlough Protection - No pilot can be furloughed

*Stronger Scope Language

*5% pay increase on 1/1/09, 4% EACH year thereafter

*Int'l pay for all pilots ($5.20 p/hr for Captains, $3.90 for F/Os)

*Increased Profit Sharing

*Per Diem increases

*Reimbursement of real estate commissions in the event a base is closed within 24 months. Max; $35,000.00

*Full pay sick leave hours increased from 240 to 300 hours on a rolling three-year basis

*Seat on the Delta Board of Directors

*Medical Insurance Retirement improvements

*Additional 1% to Defined Contribution Plan (with increases in 2011 and 2012)

*3.5 Equity in the merged Company

*Delta Air Lines agrees to pay the Union's "costs and fees" incurred as a result of the merger
