Seems like everything was set up weeks ago and they just waited for this date.

US raised $10.2 Billion in financing to offer Delta in January 2007, do you think they can raise (I'm guessing) $4 Billion to counter offer Delta's $3.1 Billion deal for Northwest?

US can lose a lot or gain a lot...depending on management. They need to fix internal problems( public relations, employee morale, and value) US will not merge with anyone because other than the midwest, they have all the needed hubs. For US to suceed, they MUST find a way to make the PHX and LAS profitable. US will not be split off(I don't know why people think airlines just split, because its never happened) US is profitable in the east, and if they upgrade their PHL, DCA, and LGA rj flights to mainline, their increased capacity will be able compete with DL/NW and UA/CO. I know that there is already to much capacity, however this seems like the best way to counter the new mergers

This is far from a done deal..... wait til James Oberstar starts throwing his weight around. There are going to be lots of 'civic' concessions coming before it happens.

As we've seen with AAA/UAL twice, and AAA/DAL, its not over until the fat woman sings.

The MSP Airport Chairman has already issued a press release, basically implying that there are several issues that still must be worked out.

Why do you think the west is not profitable? do you have proof? has Parker or Kirby come out and stated it? NO! So why do you easties keep repeating this crap. The west was profitable before the merger, my take is that it still is. Prove me wrong.
