Depends on what you want to be. If your expectations of your company are such that:
you don't care about your reputation
you don't care that your employees are actively causing more spending rather than conserving
you don't care that your employees actively recommend the competition
you don't care that customers walk away shaking their heads every day and swearing off your company
you don't care that you are known as the "worst airline in the world"
you don't care that in times of stress; ie a snowstorm, summer meltdown, Christmas etc your employees will ignore all pleas for help

Then, yeah, you're a company that doesn't factor in Employee Morale and you get what you pay for.

The company does not care about it's employees and it has a huge effect on performance.
In my station in particular the low starting wage and the poor morale have impacted every aspect of the operation.
Because of the low starting wage, we are getting quite a few people who come in with zero motivation to learn and even less to work without constant prodding. Most of this group are here just because they were already at the airport (skycaps, chimes, ect..) and it's just easier to pick up another job where you are. Most of our newer agents don't even really travel, they can't afford it, working two low paying jobs. On top of that, our senior people have been the underpaid, under appreciated backbone for too long, and really resent being saddled with another group of short timers who refuse to listen and in some cases are limited. This has really become "just a job" for many, without even a thought of taking pride in what we do. We are always working short because it is very difficult to get someone who can make it through badging offering such low pay, so when the crunch comes we are already overextended. We are hemorrhaging our senior agents who have the knowledge because they are beginning to think this is a futile operation, on top of the fact that the money and the respect are no longer part of the job. We do have a few stellar employees, and have hired some good newbies, but the general quality of new hires has gone way down.

OIL is today at 142 a barrel , no one's getting a raise , accept it ...

no bob , no one's going to be getting any raises because oil is at 142 dollars a barrel ....our operating costs have increased by close to TWO BILLION DOLLARS ....

that's why no one's getting a raise ....

Do you know how much two billion dollars is ? i think you do ...

i think your allowing emtion to overide your intellect .... our company is taking the necessary measures to stem our losses .

Apparently you dont understand the RLA and CBA, if someone is due a raise contractually, they will be getting it.

That’s right , thank god for the contracts that we have established .. because that’s the only way we will see our raises , I of course was talking about those who do NOT have contracts … aka the people who haven't gotten it together and will still have their BK contracts .

As for you legacy to legacy , i'm simply stating the obvious .. i cannot stand people who try to lie to themselves and everyone else around them , if oil was at 70 dollars a barrel i would be wrong .. but the facts can't lie ... don't hate me , hate reality.

Hey listen--if everyone just ignored FREEDOM, maybe he'd just go away.......

now back on topic.....

It's obvious to anyone who works here that the company could not care less about it's employees and has shown that time after time by placing us in the FRONT LINE of their war against our customers. MORALE?? Again, they DO NOT CARE about it....

What has that done to me?? WHen I go to work, I always give 110% and it's simply because I take pride in myself and my chosen career. I try everyday and every flight to make our passengers day and experience with US Airways the best possible. Usually that involves listening and commiserating(sp?) with them and the lousy way they have been treated by the Company.
I let them know, in no uncertain terms, that I'm on THEIR side and that I detest the way US AIrways treats them.

But because of the way US Airways treats it's employees and it's passengers, I WILL NOT:

-Apologize for the company

-Defend the company in any way

-Adhere to stupid, ill-conceived company policies, plans or rules that adversely effect our customers--knowing that I do so at my own risk, but always do so to provide" better customer service, comfort or safety"

-Hesitate to do ANYTHING I can to provide good customer service and make the customers' day better

-Let US Airways make me depressed, unhappy or turn me into a constant whiner or complainer.

We all know how bad this airline is run and how incompetent the BrainTrust in Tempe is. However, I really feel that we each need to take pride in ourselves and our jobs and give 110% IN SPITE OF THE COMPANY!!

BET ME!!

I just got a call from a head hunter for an opportunity that will pay about what you make in a year MORE than what I'm getting now. That's because I have marketable job skills that are in demand even in a recession and $142/bbk oil. Now I'm going throught with exploring the opportunity however it is with a company that has a reputation for being difficult to work for and is not an industry leader. That's why the pay premium over my current employer.

Taking proper care of your employees makes them willing to work for less and NOT turn over every few years. The dopes that you work for can't see past the spreadsheet.

Someday
I'll bet you my boss can outdrink your boss under the table and THEN beat a whole fraternity at beer pong.

(my friend typed that when I was in the yard peeing/watering flowers. Sry she's nuts)
