I remember when the best dressed folks on the airplane were the NR's. With this business casual and GUEST PASSES, we are seeing some scary sights at the ATO. Folks at the Sandcastle need to redefine BUSINESS CASUAL. I have personally seen some pretty disgusting folks trying to fly, regular employess and TONS of GUEST PASSES. If you are not aware of the current dress code please log into THEHUB and read the current rules. We are seeing passengers showing up in cutoff sweat pants, tshirts with some real offensive content, jeans I would not mow the grass in, and FLIPFLOPS, come on now, flipflops are for the beach or the shower. Show alittle pride and dress appropriately.

Get a life!

This IS America! Everyone has the right to tell everyone else how to think and act. LCC is the greyhound bus of the 21st century.

It also should be noted that the gate agents need to enforce these policies as well. I have seen male NR's go into F/C wearing shorts and open shoes. That's a no-no folks! Just cuz they're co-workers or whatever doesnt cut it!

I don't know, as long as a NR isn't bragging about a free flight or low price, I could care less what they wear. It's not what they wear, but some of the attitudes that bother me. We all need to remember that this benefit is not a right and should be respected. As far as dress, look around. This ain't 1985.

Back in olden times when US catered to the business customer, non-revs were expected to dress up to blend in. Since Parker has openly stated US will be focusing on the leisure traveler, dressing like a Kettle probably makes sense.

<SNIP> As far as dress, look around. This ain't 1985.
Are you sure about that? I thought we spotted a few mullets in the Impressions of Incompetence thread earlier this year.

I think the gate agents should still saying something (in a nice way) even if you let them on the plane. I had to change clothes once on CAL becuase I was wearing Nice shorts, Dockers and a Polo and forgot about their more formal dress code.

I almost always wear slacks, dark shoes and a dress shirt.
No excuss for employees to look bad, now guest passes are another thing entirely.

Would you wear a suit... or even slacks, collar shirt/tie to ride the Greyhound???!!!

My point is while it is nice to respect the "dress code", what are we really representing? Ala Carte everything. The dress code is not consistently enforced anyway. You can tell who is a non-rev on a Hawaii flight. They guy who is following the guide lines is the only one "biz casual" while everyone else is shorts and tees. C'mon.

I agree that attitude is more important than what you are wearing. Most rev pax do not know who is a non-rev and who isn't unless you are one of those non-revs that advertise your employment with the company by wearing your lanyard and company badge out in the open, while pulling your roller board with crew written all over it.

I would rather be pleasant and comfortable while travelling, than dressed nice, uncomfortable, and moody....

Who cares about a "dress code"? Non-revs aren't supposed to tell anyone about their status anyway, so dressing casually makes them blend in.

This is America--people can dress how they want.

Okay YV has some confessions *sighs* Here we go...

Whenever I nonrev out of an obscure city south of the mason dixon line I'm guilty as charged for wearing flip flops if I'm only flying a short trip that day however and I can have atleast 150+ employees testify that I do wear Business attire while flying Transatlantic or International, it sickens me to see other EMPLOYEES and guest passes or nonrevs wear attire praiseworthy of Suckwest Aurlunes 🙂

Recently I flew from the city of brotherly love to the Nation's Capitol and I was wearing flip flops and the "A" asked if I'd like to sit up front and I had to decline as I was not with regulations so I am a "responsible" nonrev.

Thank you to the FA though if you read the boards.

I have never had a problem dressing up and have never worn shorts to nonrev, even on a day trip, but the one thing I now have a problem with is having to "dress up" to fly in FC. If we are going to shorts and tshirt coach, why cant we nice jeans, collar shirt, FC? When I go on vacation I very seldom have plans that would require dress shoes and dress pants (unless going on a cruise) so that means I have to wear the good clothes and pack the jeans so I can lug the good clothes around in the suitcase while I'm on vacation so I can maybe get FC. Even if you had to dress up to "request" to sit in FC, but if that were the only thing left and you had your upgrades, jeans and a collar shirt would be ok for a last minute get on the plane type of deal. Might as well go casual all the way, right? 🙄

First class isn’t just about more comfortable seats in the front of the plane , free drinks and getting off the AC before anyone else …it’s also about IMAGE , style , prestige and all that B.S …

I personally don’t buy into the prestige mentality … but there are many who do (I know it’s so sad ) which means that we want to keep our first class cabin exclusive looking , we want people to WANT to sit in first class just so they can “feel “ prestigious and important … that means we need to continue to contribute to the image by looking good ourselves ..

I’m two thumbs up for the dress code for business reasons …

Is it really so hard to wear a pair of Khackis and a Polo shirt? Tip for the men.....get youself a pair of black shoes which are made by Nike, New Balance and all the rest. You will never be questioned.

I for one would never wear shorts or flip flops.
