If you go back to 1976 -77. Allegheny had the 298 program. They took Nord 262's and did the "Mohaw" conversion . Added PWA PT6's and APU. This was worked by main line at main line stations. The Mechanics at 298 stations worked for 7% less. Also some work rule changes. But M&R could bid main line jobs when they came up. As I understand the Pilots were locked into the program. They couldn't bid to say the BAC 111. So along came the need for new pilots. You can guess what happened then. The "new higher" Pilot had the higher pay. That didn't set to well. Come 1978 and we sold the Nords and were out of the commuter business , for main line people. MDT was the "hub". The Nords came from the Lake Central merger. The 170's were to be set up the same way. But Segel and the boys wouldn't go for it. Now we have the 190s on main line. Go figure.
