Dumb Things Politicians Say

Obama

Camp Lejune Speech to less then enthusiastic troops:

But let there be no doubt: Iraq is not yet secure, and there will be difficult days ahead. Violence will continue to be a part of life in Iraq.

Doh!

Iraq combat deaths at 6-year low
WASHINGTON — U.S. combat deaths in Iraq have flattened at the lowest level since the war began six years ago Thursday, and the Navy has not lost a member to combat in more than a year.

Three Marines have been killed in combat since August, and none since December, records show. The Air Force hasn't had a combat death since April, and the Navy since February 2008.

In some weeks, casualty figures for Iraq show, the number of non-combat deaths for U.S. troops topped those killed in fighting.

In January and February, 15 U.S. servicemembers were killed in hostile action. That compares with 60 for the same period in 2008 and 149 in 2007. In all, through Tuesday, there have been 4,260 U.S. servicemembers killed in Iraq, 3,424 in combat, since the war began in 2003.

Lower combat deaths match the overall drop in violence levels throughout Iraq, military officials and analysts say. In February, there were 340 attacks with improvised explosive devices (IEDs) — the top threat to U.S. troops — the lowest number since October 2004, according to Pentagon figures.

Anyone care to guess whats the consequences of having a military who doesn't support the president?

The worst thing Bill Clinton was EVER guilty of was bad judgment IMO.

That said, a sitting President has to have many skills to be effective and primary among those skills is the ability to exercise good judgment on a consistent and ongoing basis.

If you're 50+ getting serviced by a 20 year old is admirable if you can find them

Getting serviced in the oval office is bad judgment.
Lying about it to the public is bad judgment.
Lying to a Grand Jury is both illegal and also is bad judgment

Bill Clinton had a problem that many men have and that's the inability to keep his pecker in his pants and sorry to all of the Clinton haters but I think a lot of them were just plain jealous that old Billy Boy could get serviced by interns at a time in their lives where their wives couldn't be less interested in exploring the pleasures of the flesh.

Neither Bill Clinton nor George W Bush were saints. They also were not the evil incarnate their opponents made them out to be.

Affairs by presidents are nothing new. In fact its a tradition.

Other notable affairs by US presidents

Thomas Jefferson - Fathered five children from an affair with a slave.

Warren Harding - Harding had long affairs with at least two different women. One was Nan Britton, who claims to have given birth to his daughter.

Franklin D. Roosevelt - Contrary to popular belief, Eleanor was not the love of his life. Lucy Mercer, Eleanor's social secretary at one point. Lucy was a tall and beautiful young women with thick blonde hair. Eleanor discovered the affair when she found some love letters that Lucy had sent to her husband. She confronted her husband with the letters and told him that she wanted a divorce. FDR in no way wanted to sacrifice his political standing or career with a divorce, so he promised Eleanor that he would never see Lucy Mercer again.

Dwight D. Eisenhower - Dwight gave in to the temptations of a young women named Kay Summersby, who happened to be his personal driver. While his wife, Mamie was in the states and Dwight was overseas, the affair blossomed. Summersby was a former British model and was quite attractive.

John F. Kennedy - Some of his more famous affairs were with Angie Dickinson, Kim Novak, and the most famous of all, Marilyn Monroe. JFK also had a suite on the 8th floor of Washington's Mayflower Hotel always on his beck and call for any of his extramarital affairs.

Lyndon Baines Johnson - "LBJ had the instincts of a Turkish sultan in Instanbul." Basically meaning that he had his own little harem of women. Although, he was much better at keeping his extramartial affairs more discreet then his predecessor JFK. One of his many sexual partners became pregnant in 1950, prior to him being in the White House. Her name was Madeline Brown and she gave birth to LBJ's son who was named Steven.

Getting serviced in the oval office is bad judgment.

I see your point but what a power trip lol

Lying about it to the public is bad judgment.

If that is the case we need to muzzle every single politician. That would not be a bad thing but kind of hard to implement.

Lying to a Grand Jury is both illegal and also is bad judgment

Agreed but as I said, the questions were not relevant to the running of the nation and should not have been asked IMO.

The problem I have with the whole issue with Clinton is not what happened or even where it happened. I agree with Piney that it was real bad judgement on his part.

He is not the first President nor will he be the last to excersise bad judgement.

The problem I have is that once you were caught don't try to deny it and don't compound the problem by committing perjury and lie to the Grand Jury. Just admit your mistake and lets move on.

Obama (again)

Obama criticizes some Guantanamo release decisions

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama says the U.S. hasn't done a good job sorting out who should be released from the Guantanamo Bay detention center.

Obama says in a broadcast interview that some of the people released from the facility in Cuba have rejoined terrorist groups. He also says U.S. officials have not always been effective in determining which prisoners will be a danger once they are let go.

But he says the Bush administration's policy of holding detainees for years on end with no trials is "unsustainable,' and has only fueled anti-American sentiments.

In a taped interview with CBS' "60 Minutes," he also disputes former Vice President Dick Cheney's claim that plans to close Guantanamo will make America less safe.

I swear you just cant make this crap up. What a tool.

Finding stupid things the current administration does is like shooting fish in a barrel. I tell ya, it might no be too long before the left realizes something is wrong in DC.

Obama

Obama sent a letter to Chirac, saying he looks forward to working with him the next four years. Le Figaro, French newspaper is horrified at the faux pas. Sarkozy is the current President there! I Chirac is the FORMER president. It's like Sarkozy writing to George Bush and saying he looks forward to working with him.

Dapoes, what are we going to do with you? Do you have any common sense? The only place this has gained any traction is on blogs and bulletin boards. It's not even on FOX and they would jump all over this. That right there should be an indication that this is probably not true.

I did find this information on the Christian Science Monitor as well.

Christan Science Monitor

Our handy colleague, Laurent Belsie, who writes the New Economy blog here at the Monitor, speaks French. (We don’t hold that against him.)

With his help we found out that another French newspaper, the New Observer, explained that Obama was merely replying to a Chirac letter who was writing him as the head of his foundation — the Jacques Chirac Foundation for sustainable development and cultural dialogue.

The foundation is promoting access to water and medicines in west Africa, combating deforestation in the Congo Basin, and trying to save dying languages in Polynesia, according to a spokesman who helped set up the foundation
.

The fact that this is the only news based (CSM) article on web should also be a hint.

I was able to verify that Chirac indeed does have his own foundation to sustain cultural dialog.

It is quite difficult to prove a negative but it would appear that you have posted yet another unsubstantiated rumor without any basis in fact. Imagine my surprise. 🙄 I guess there is always the possibility that this is true but the very idea strains credulity.

You should take a college level course on research practices. You might learn how to research and document something.

I sure hope you are pretty.

Not my fault you post BS most the time. Try researching a bit and using a little logic. The more crap like this that you post, the less credibility you have. The sun thing is interesting and deserves more research, but if you keep posting crap like this, the small kernels of truth you occasionally post will be lost in the muck.
