I think the issue is massive spending..
The housing collapse was an absolutely direct result of Fannie and Freddie, that can be debated back and forth and blamed on the Bush administration till the cows come, but the bottom line is simply it appeared any way possible to put someone in a home regardless if they qualified or not was the issue..Bush should have known what was going on in that committee but ultimately Congress controls it all..
Deregulation had absolutely nothing to do with that at all..the first stimulus had a effect...and boosted the economy to a degree however most people probably banked that money(at least part of it)... now another potential trillion dollar debt is to be placed...again on the tax payer that is supposed to fix it all? they just want another bill that will boost the economy again but there is no real infrastructure repair in this new package, spend spend spend is not the way to repair this economy..
it will take years..what would be necessary is to focus on a real tax cut with smaller government and less finger pointing...
the article mentions the blame is the GOP and that is not the issue. the problem is the money they will eventually allocate, and watch a bulk of it go overseas..at the taxpayer expense. I do not understand why this is being even a rescue plan, because ultimately its going to make it worse (I hope that will not be the case)..
I try to be very openminded but this stimulus and massive spending is going to screw it all up,
I guess they need to try to do something but it takes years for these types of recovery, a quick fix is not the real solution.
2003: "Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are not in a crisis" and "I see entities that are fundamentally sound"
I think Fannie & Freddie have done an incredibly good job, and are an intrinsic part of making America the best housed people in the world....if you look over the last 20 or whatever yrs. They've done a very, very good job.

"Obama, speaking to about 200 House Democrats at their annual retreat at the Kingsmill Resort and Spa, dismissed Republican attacks against the massive spending in the stimulus."
WTF?....................Does anyone else have a problem with the words } Demorats, Resort and spa and annual retreat , in the above quote ?
When was the last time a bill of this magnitude move out with no earmarks in it? Not one.
Have you read the Qur'an? No of course not. Last time I looked, I didn't see terrorists yelling scripture from the bible and relying on it to rain hell upon non believers (non-christians).
Kinda drifting from the topic
I have read parts. It is just as goofy as any other religious document.
Some cultures seem to take longer than other to out grow their religious fanaticism. If you look at history I suspect the native Americans would have a slightly different opinion regarding the benevolence of Christianity. Then there were the witches who were burned at the stake. Te rest of the world has had it's share s well. The Incas if I recall my history right. Galileo and Copernicus. The blacks during the tie of slavery. In a round about way the Jews during Nazi Germany. I believe the Spaniards also had a thing with the Jews as well.
The Muslims do not have the corner on the market regarding religious perversion and persecution. They just seem to be taking a really long time to break the shackles of religious servitude. Fortunately people have out grown their subservience to religion and allowed people to have different beliefs.
Where are all of the Obama kool-aid drinkers with their "Republicans said dumb things too" list? Don't tell me they are now posting on the WeloveObama forum.![]()
As I said, the US for the most part has matured beyond religious extremism. The Muslim nations are taking a bit longer to do so.
Im very well versed thank you. Its you that thinks the Quran is just a "goofy religious document"Yes, religious servitude. You seem to know very little about American history and world history or you are in denial about it.
No but consider this point in our current world. Not all Muslims are terrorists, but all the terrorist problems we have now and have been, just so happen to be Muslim. Just look at whats happening in europe and the UK.In my opinion religion in any form when taken to extreme is a danger to the world. Christianity, Islam, Judaism have all had their low points. You seem to be under the impression that Islam is the only one that is bad.
A document that says it is OK to stone and adulterer is not goofy?
Most of the majority of voters who support the new administration will allow you all to enjoy the conversation with yourselves.Where are all of the Obama kool-aid drinkers with their "Republicans said dumb things too" list? Don't tell me they are now posting on the WeloveObama forum.![]()
