What's new

Early out for M & R Sept. 4-Sept 25

No one will be bumping into a shop so dont worry about that you will be on the hangar floor
Haven't heard about any red circle shops yet. TAESL is open season supposedly.

If an AMT cant pass an OSM test then they dint deserve the job and the testers here are pretty fair no one hardly ever fails anything

With all the changes about to occur, I can't help but wonder if it is going to prompt a lot of older mechanics to leave? I'm thinking a larger number will opt out.

Prefunding
August 30, 2012
The prefunding for Maintenance & Related and Stores are still in effect at this time.
The indication from the company is that prefunding will cease near the end of the year or possibly earlier. This means that if you were to retire this year, you are entitled to retiree medical until the program is terminated.
The money for the prefunding will not be dispersed until the retiree medical program ends. Please do not end your prefunding contributions right now. If you end your contributions, then the court rules in the 1114 process that members are entitled to a company match, you will NOT be entitled to the company match.
So it is very important to stay in the Prefunding program until is terminated. When the Prefunding program ends, you will receive your refund within 120 days of the ending of the program.

Unless it changed in bankruptcy you bump junior guy in system not wherever you feel like going. If junior guy is in lax that's where you go if he is in JFK that's where you go etc etc. now with this virtual bump who knows? It will be very interesting and those that have been rift before know that it always gets fcked up somehow so expect tge worst and hope for the best

That's not the way it happened last time. Just ask the guys from DFW who were bumped by TULE people and then had to bump into places like ORD.

As far as I know before you can go to a line station you have to test. No test no bump its always been like this and I wouldn't think it would be any different this time. I also heard the A25 test was recently changed to make it harder but then again this is just rumors who knows.

Question, please.

What is a "test" and what does it have to do with bumping into another department?

The company has a manual that is known as the QAM. It has the qualification tests for the jobs. Depending on several factors, when a mechanic moves from one job to anther, he could have to show qualification. In the new contract, the company has full control of this process, which was shared by the union before. At the company's discretion, to qualify for say the line the mechanic may have to pass a test to be allowed to qualify for the bid. My guess is that the company does not want to send someone to Miami on the first round only to finally assign them to DFW etc...

Thanks.

Wow. The company in full control of the bidding. Sounds like only the boot lickers get the bid?

Here at US, all you need is a pulse, Oh, and seniority.

In regards to 'bumping'.
The Company does not want bumping, plain and simple.
Even if you pass a test, there is a lag time to get up to speed and time is money.
There may be different training requirements and the company doesn't want to spend a penny.

The local union guys want to protect their Junior buddies and will collude with management to make tests harder even at the expense of a Senior guys job..

At UA, before the bumping started, shops reverted back to the hardest test they could find and even added a few questions that no one could pass.

AMFA stepped in and put a quick stop to the 'new tests', rolled testing back to the last test and saved a lot of senior people from hitting the streets because they couldn't pass a new 'super test'.

Hopefully, your union will enforce seniority and ensure the last/easiest tests are enforced.

BK sucks, the bump N'Roll sucks, layoff sucks, testing again sucks!

Best to you all here at AA!
Just my 2 Cents...
B) xUT

(been there, done that, no T-Shirt)

An O/H AMT transfering to the line has to pass the A-25 line test to transfer to the line so it stands to reason a guy getting bumped to the line would have to as well.

A lot of questions about how virtual bumping is going to work.

Do they are going to do a separete virtual bumping on each of the four RIF ocurrences?

Hear through the grapevine that OH AMT are going to be required to pass the A25 (line test) in order to bump to line stations - no A25 - no bump. Do they can do this? Probably the answer is going to be yes, they can do that brother.
