Well the deadline is here....Buzz is that 540 Agents in PIttsburgh and 312 In Winston!!!!!!!!! Thats a lot of 20000.00 Payouts!!!!!! NOw we wait to see if and when they post the dates that we are freed!!!!!!!

Wow this ought to cost the company about 20 million, including the health insurance they are going to pay. Hope it's worth it! I wonder if they expected such a high number,
I thought the initial hope was 25%. Sounds like more that 50% took the early out.

$17.04 million actually, if you're numbers are right. Peanuts (pardon the pun) when compared to the cost of fuel these days or the amount U is dropping every day.

How much are they paying those folks in El Salvador per hour? $2 something? $2 something vs $19 something + bennies. Now it's easy to see why they want them to go..sad isn't it. Welcome to a VoIP world!

Actually, it is $17/hr and not all are at the $20,000 level.

In our station word is a little over half of about 60 CWA's took the EO including recently returned furloughees..
Speaks volumes, ehhh?
Just hope company survives between now and EXIT STAGE LEFT.
Ironic thing is I already received full severance from last furlough, now I am getting another one..unless of course "they" pull a fast one.:mf_boff:

Feel bad for the ones remaining, although they had a choice. I've seen it stated many times that Life does not begin and end with U. I came back with moderately high hopes, but unfortunately they were dispelled rather quickly. The diehards will be dealing with a new genre of rookie employees, and all I can say is GODSPEED AND GOD HELP THEM ALL!

Of course that is just one side of story. How much does it cost them when customers hang up because they can't understand the agent on the other side of the phone? Or when the incentive isn't there to try to make that sale for the good of the wonderful company you work for. Um ok strike that last sentence that was the old days.

UVN...like I have said many times....outsourcing on the short term will save the company money and on the long term...You have hit the nail right on the head!!!!!

We don't care!

They asked for it, and they got it. Now they can sleep in the bed that they've made for themselves.

We deserve better, and we're finding it in droves.

I wouldn't blame you for not giving a hoot about USAirways after what they have done to you and your fellow employees. It is the company that is screwing up.

I can Lakefield now....."But Judge it seems my crack managment team has underestimated the amout of current employee's who took the early out packages. USAirways simply cannot afford to pay out these monies. We simply need relief on the payments otherwise the company will forced to liquidate!!" To which the Judge replies "Well OK, I realize some will suffer but to save the company, you can have relief on the pay-outs"

I can see that happening. With the distrust this company has sewn in it's employees it is amazing it it still flying.

There are clauses in every union contract at U allowing exactly that.

The gist of the clause is if U encounters difficulties exit BK, it may impose additional concessions.

Don't count on EO or severance.

There are no clauses that the company can impose concessions.

Oh?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We're concerned about this angle, too.

We asked the AGC if he had any further information other than the term sheets on the web. We asked for further details, that were in writing, as we have learned to our pain that is where the devil resides.

He replied he had no futher info than what was on the web.

We flat out asked, if the company, post-vote and pre- BK emergence, could unilaterally change terms due to economic distress, and he said no.

With that in mind, read

http://www.iam141.org/PDF/US%20Airways/USA...ree.1.13.05.pdf

Particularly,

"The IAMAW agrees that in the event this Agreement becomes effective, the BK Court order authorizing such effectiveness shall provide that if thereafter, PRIOR (emphasis mine) to the effective date of any Chapt. 11 plan of reorganization for US Airways, the Company is in grave and imminent danger that it will be forced to suspend, discontinue or materially reduce its mainline flight operations, as compared to the operations as of the date hereof, it may seek to have the Court modify the Section 1114 retiree benefits....."

and,

" In the event, after confirmation of a plan of reorganization, the Debtors suffer extreme hardship.....the Debtors.......may institute proceedings.....to effectuate such changes as the court finds necessary to avoid liquidation of the Debtors."

In the informational meetings, the IAM lawyer said this was standard language.

The beatings are not over, not by a long shot.

While this is currently applicable to retirees, does anybody believe it will stop there?

700,

Will you guarantee that U will live up to its EO and severance promises?

Of course you can't.

1114 only deals with retirees, not current employees.

And yes they can go back into court and file 1113 motions, like they have done here at US and UAL.

And I whole heartedly believe they will be back seeking more concessions.

Nothing in life is guaranteed.
