I assume that most, if not all, of the agreements contain language similiat to this:

"US Airways may seek relief from the Section 1113 ALPA Forbearance prior to its expiration only if it can demonstrate that such relief is necessary, because US Airways is in grave and imminent danger that it will be forced to suspend, discontinue, or materially reduce, its mainline flight operations, as compared to the operations as of the date hereof."

What's happening to affect the vaunted "Transformation Plan"?

High fuel costs - nearly $60 per barrel spot prices if you average NYC and Gulf Coast spot prices.

Continued LCC expansion - WN in PIT come May and growth elsewhere will continue to exert downward pressure on yields.

So, yes, they'll be back.....unless we liquidate before they have a chance.

BoeingBoy,

Yup, we have that language too.

If fuel doesn't go below $45 on average in the next 6 months, I don't believe we will be here either. And if they try for more.....then they need to shut the lights, there will not be another concession from the Rank.

It will have to come from the creditiors, stakholders and senior managment.

Any Exec making $200,000 and up is grossly over paid, under utilized and needs a major pay adjustment, or LEAVE. Haven't ran across one that is worth their weight on this property.

We are an industry that is "labor intense". The co. may think they can Kiosk us to death and out source our work....but at the end of the day, you sitll need labor to offer customer service. Right now, morale is so bad, it maybe beyond recovery.

They are not operating this airline anyway.....just running around giving a lot of "spin" to the public, creditors, ATSB, and employees with BS.

So far, I haven't seen any changes in the operation end. Just a bunch of managers running around trying to implement the concessions from labor.

It does not mean the company can just change your contract at whim, they still have to follow Section 1113 and Section 1114 of the bankruptcy code.

NoName,

Everyone in res, dividend miles service center, and baggage call service receives the $20,000.

I believe the 20K payout was for employee's that were full time status, some seem "confused" on whether or not the 20K included those part time employee's.

$17.04 million actually, if you're numbers are right. Peanuts (pardon the pun) when compared to the cost of fuel these days or the amount U is dropping every day.

How much are they paying those folks in El Salvador per hour? $2 something? $2 something vs $19 something + bennies. Now it's easy to see why they want them to go..sad isn't it. Welcome to a VoIP world!

It was my understanding that the payout depended on years of service...and those in res/dmsc/bcc that were full time would get an additional $5,000. If I am wrong, sorry.
From CWA.net EO info:
Eligible Employees
All active CWA represented employees with a minimum five (5) years of service in a CWA represented craft and class may participate in the Early Out Program. The Program design includes the following components based on the employees’ years of service in a CWA represented craft and class. Employees on a Military Leave and Union Leave of Absence (LOA) are considered to be active employees for the purposes of this program.
Employees on LOA may apply as long as they have a return–to-work date and return to work prior to the end of the application period.

Years of 5-9 10-14 15 Plus Service
Cash $5,000 $10,000 $15,000

Reservations, Dividend Miles Service Center and Baggage Call Center employees who accept an Early Out will be entitled to the maximum Early Out provisions described above plus an additional bonus of $5,000 ($2,500 for Part Time employees) and will be offered outplacement assistance by the Company.

$20,000 before taxes will probably be closer to $14,000 after taxes, is a drop in the bucket, in comparrison to what they will save....

The telephone agents in EL Salvador get about $2.12 an hour and the company saves between $7-$15.00 in hourly wages..... plus all the remaining benefits....The company is saving in :Salary, training, sick leave, vacation pay, medical/ dental benefits, family leave time, wage taxes, AND savings in eliminating the costs for Pittsburgh Res Center including:
Rent...Utilities...telephone lines, computers, copy machines, admin staff & managers, etc....

I think the company will be anxious to "Buy-Out" employees at $20,000 a pop to hire brand new telephone agents, at the bottom of the bottom of wages....
I bet they are already seeing the savings in the cost of doing business in the internet calls from USAIRWAYS.com taken away from a company in Pensacola, florida this year and moved to EL Salvador....

At this point I am ready to take the buy-out, and move on with life...

As long as we have 5 years we get 15,000 plus the 5,000. This has been confirmed serveral times with the union and managment.

UVN, nothing is mentioned as to how it will bep aid, so therefore, assume lump, as if they were to drip I am sure it would be mentioned.

BY the way final number for INT was just shy of half.

Is it a lump sum or ?

Lump sum check ... Mailed to you 30 days after your release date!

The fed tax deduction was stated at 25 percent..plus FICA aka (SOC SEC) which is an additional approx. 8pct.......so 1/3 of the payout comes right off the top. Depending on your personal tax situation, some of the fed tax will likely be "refunded" in 2006 after filing '05 tax returns.

Well the only questions people were asking at work today was when can we go!!
The company is not posting release dates until Aprill 11th. I hope Atento is busy busy busy hiring the 900 or so agents who will be answering the phones for USAirways soon.
I feel sorry for the passengers though, I think this is going to be difficult for the company to complete...
