Our "town hall" (aka Dog and Pony show) is on the 26th....

Has anyone been to one of these meetings yet?

Has anyone been asked to join an EIT?

To me, this seems like "Catch the Spirit" all over again; in other words, all hype.

What I think it is, is........... (drum roll please)

Like the military: they break you down and build you up like how they want you to be.

All the sheep are being led to the slaughter....

They just want you to feel like a VIP when you think you are being heard and understood.

The big thing in sevice management is INVOLVEMENT. That is having the customer involved in the process- wether it is the passenger getting INF tix from the e-ticket machine for the exit row, or having YOU do suggest to NW what your future uniform will look like via Radar (pure BS, you know they picked out something Hot pink instead of Red, Blue, Black or Grey). Makes you feel importaint. Special. Sparkly. Still didn't get my 10 yr snot pin yet. 🙄 I don't feel like I'm part of the NW family. Booooo HOOOOOOO. I need a divorce. Get me back my maiden name and drop the NW part.

It sounds to me like they are just rehashing the same type of program they tried a few years back. Why should this latest round of employee morale-boosting have any effect? Because Dougie Steenland said that things are different now at the new NW?

If they are accepting ideas from ex-employees on how to improve morale and save money at NW, here's my suggestion...there should be a complete housecleaning at the executive management level and above, including the BOD. 😉

This is precisely why I don't think this will amount to more than lip service.

To be fair, I think some of the practical parts of the program are nice (ie fuel saving ideas, improving breakrooms,DTW employee website), but the "you're important to NW" touchy feely part is the crux of the program, and is also the biggest fallacy.

Yep. The 2007 version of the Catch the Spirit.

I asked why/how this will be different from past programs while sitting in on a conference call about this yesterday. The answer?

"It just is."

The lady then said her biggest reason why she was sold was becaue this was the first time she'd ever been asked to join anything at NW....Not a very convincing reason, IMO.

Well, we were told that no contractual issues are to be discussed, which means that while discussing ways to improve morale and service, you cannot broach any topics regarding outsourcing of line stations, or the quality of MTX. Of course, things like holiday pay, etc. that were recently lost are completely off the table. 🙄

Sound familiar?

From Catch the Spirit training: "We can't address that, but let's address what we can fix."

I understand that dealing with these things is each union's job, but it is also precisely why this program is a mile wide and an inch deep.

Yeah you think the guy who suggested the "Box, liner" in the trash cart idea still works for NW?

Well, I guess they can't all be winners...

I've been quite glad to see the "big" cans back on the DC9's lately. Sure makes a turn clean a bit faster.

The last time I read management training and morale elevation suggestions hypocrisy wasn't part of the equation. Take all the money in the executive ranks and demand more work from the rank and file employees! Are SCABAIR executives on drugs or really that dilusional?

Why are some of you people still at SCABAIR? Moving on couldn't possibly be as difficult as being demoralized on a daily basis.

Keep your self esteem and values in check. Move on to a better life.

Wait until you get 'Lean'...... 😛

That will help alot...

Good Luck Kev! but get ready for it,

Hey Kev, your right on that. I guess MX in DTW and a simular version a few weeks ago. Fat scab Carl Hamilton asked why guys with more seniority were not allowed to move during the recent realignment. He was put in his place by Wroble, we're not here for discussion on that. This was not going to be a bitching session. Hey Jenny, your man rememeber fat Carl?

 Gee carl maybe because your scabs and we wrote the contract. You only have a job because someone with more seniority had a backbone and did not cross the picket line and your fat ass stole his job. What can be better than a scab bitchin about his seniority?
