I know Colgan and Air Midwest have some props in their own livery that show up in the system, but are we really alllowing this now?

Not sure if it helps, but the Airliners.net caption reads:

No longer in a UsAirways scheme, this Republic 170 is rotating on its way to DEN on behalf of Frontier. Quite a pleasent catch on this outing to OMA! Canon 350D

I know they do service for Frontier, but didn't we give them the 28 aircraft to do service as US Airways Express?

And don't think this bird won't pop up in our system. They have plain white and blue E170s and ERJs that show up at United and Delta gates all the time... still better than this though. Who do they think they are? They are a lowball, contract, replacement worker outfit, not a codeshare partner.

saw one at the B gates in PHL yesterday..... not sure if it was the same one...exact same livery, tho....

They removed 5 170s (down to 23 in the US fleet) so they could shift them to F9. In return, they will be operating another 5-8 175s for US, on top of what was previously agreed upon.

Republic does seem to flaunt its independence alot though. I can't be on one of their flights without hearing them say that this a Republic Airlines flight atleast 5-6 times--I'm lucky to hear them mention USairways once or twice it seem!

Yes flying on their flights.....with their own style uniforms and such, it feels like I bought a ticket on republic airlines, one of those new LCC or regional gone independant airlines......I would imagine someone would have a little better control over the contractors, (like the little info card in the seat back, explaining what a great airline republic is, and how to apply......

and Mesa either has ALL WHITE PLANES or a few hiding in the old OLD OLD USAir livery... only a few of the Beech 1900s are in the Mesa livery, but NONE of the jets flying for partner carriers.

I was on one of those E170 yesterday MHT-DCA. The bulkhead was the old grey USAirways scheme, not the new one as on the E175. I thought this was odd, and maybe a "spare" that could be used at several airlines

I asked the FA if it was a E170 and she said yes, and this was just before she got airsick, and was replace by one of several crews that were riding the flight in uniform which I assume was space positive since they booted of customers because of weight reasons.

US has absolutely NO QUALITY CONTROL over any of the contract carriers. As long as this has been going on, it seems they don't want it either. I also have to second the comment about Republic mentioning their own name 5-6 times per flight. It's complete overkill.

Republic is big on not doing a bev service due to air time when another Express carrier does. My last trip on Republic was DCA-PHL, about 20 passengers and 2 flt atts but not even an Express beverage service. So the ft att's sat on the jumpseat for about 50 mins. A few hours later I flew PHL-LGA on a FULL (37 paxs) Piedmont Dash 8. About 25-30 mins takeoff to touchdown and the 1 FA did a full beverage service from the cart. I have heard of and read about similar examples involving Republic and other Express carriers.

There is no way on eart ANY carrier should have 9 subcontractors. This is especially true when US has 2 wholly owned subsidiary carriers.
Especially when US is the smallest and most disorganized of all the major legacy carriers. and with such a screwed up disfunctional hub like PHL to boot!!

I'd like to say a few things about this topic. I am a frozen mainline pilot serving a sentence of one year at Republic as a Captain. I am aware of the FA PA referencing "Republic Airlines"...it is in their manual to make that announcement, they are required to do so...and are written up if found not in compliance. Secondly, I am frequently asked about trip mileage...as opposed to segment time...because apparently, their service is predicated on DME...not time elapsed....also in their manuals.
Now, I am not going too far on the limb for them...in fact, at the gate, I remarked that they regularly ask what the load is to determine how hard the leg will be...and are happy when it's light, but never happy when heavy...and I commented that they seem to enjoy working less than more....as a J4J Captain, there's little they can or will say in rebuttal to me in this regard.

As to the general regional comparisons at Express...I give them high marks overall for new, clean, and airworthy equipment...and by and large run a decent operation. With respect to "self promotion"...I personally don't like it, but I understand where it comes from....and it started with Comair and SkyWest 20 years ago flexing their commuter muscles and nobody said anything back then...they paint a "spare" that can cover any "partner" in the country...this is not a new trick.

Not sticking up for RW in any way but DCA-PHL is a no serv on mainline and it doesn't matter how many pax are actually on the flight. I'm not sure on this but maybe the DH8 since its max is 37pax does service on all flights since they generally do the short hops. I do know that each affiliate carrier has their own procedures and to a point disagree with this especially on aircraft like the E70, E75, and CR9 when these aircraft most of the time are flying alongside mainline aircraft on the same routes and should mirror the same service as mainline. However, in saying that mainline can't even get procedures in place for the East and West side of the operation much less the contract carriers. Note: I do have to say that the several times I've flown the YV CR9's and ZW they have always been very professional and done the same service as mainline.

We ride on PSA on DH's a bunch out of EWN to CLT and rarely get a beverage service. 45 minute flight from CLT-EWN with 25 people on a CRJ 700 (2 FA's) and no service.

I am not trying to be picky, but my wife owns a buisness in town and a bunch of her clients travel on US Airways. They say, they would rather fly the Dash because the service is much better.

I agree, US Airways needs more quality control of its product.
