F/A going past the wing, what is the deal?

I was on a DCA to PHX flight on HP and the A F/A blocks the flight deck door with her body while the Capt or F/O takes a potty break.

I told you about that. It is pretty funny to watch because they are very serious when they are in that X position.

BOHICA! I just want to warn you... Flight attendants on the east keep saying we won't put up with that crap...all I can say is remember who was promoted to be inflight director of all bases?? Wait until they get their hands on you. Life has been hell over here. If you don't follow certain rules over here its automatic discipline and/or something in your file. GUILTY UNITL PROVEN INNOCENT!

SKY High states: Lovely CORPORATE CULTURE you have there in the West. That fosters TEAM SPIRIT, like your competitor in PHX has down the hall.
This JOB requires going above and beyond daily. Smacking someone's wrist continually will result in an apathetic employee. And the passengers will smell that in a minute!

only stating opinions!

As I stated before, It will be a MUCH larger group of flight attendants and the micromanaging will NOT work nor be accepted. There would be such a rebellion that they wouldn't even know how to handle it. TRUST ME! ! Just try and implement something like that on some of the senior mommas on Int'l. I just wanna be there for it. Oh Sally, you can't go past the wing.....psssssh she'd flip the damn plane.

I do not know what these f/a out west are doing when it comes to guarding the f/deck door during bathroom breaks..but it sounds crazy. The pilots on the east tell us in the briefing what they want us to do. Some just want a f/a in the cockpit and that is it. Somewant a cart out to block the galley off..some want a second f/a in the galley...it is all different..but..no guarding the door with your arms crossed. Just plain embarassing and weird.

It's not as bad as it sounds...on the West side we just stand by the partition by first class galley when the flight deck door is opened...and face forward.....no big deal..I'm sure some FA's play it up, but all we're required to do is just stand there for that moment while the flt. door is opened......BUT LET'S GET RID OF THE "not going past overwing"...

I dont understand the not going past the wing for "safety" aspect. Maybe before all the cockpit doors had been changed and strengthened it might have been good, but if someone is up front trying to get thru the door, do you not think that someone in FC isnt going to be yelling and ringing the button to get attention and someone back up front? I can see not sitting in the back chitchatting for the flight, but to step past the wing at all? Seems like overkill. Also, like has been posted here before, the customers dont know "the rule" and many probably wouldnt really buy the explanation anyway. Seems just like another way that those in power have to have control over those below them and not much else.

Who says the flight attendants in the west guard the door with our arms crossed? That is stupid and strange! lol

Let me clarify this:

When the flight deck door is open (up in the air) we need to have one F/A "maintain a presence" between the passengers and the flight deck door. Another F/A may be trading places with a pilot, so there still needs to be someone else up front in that case. When the Flight Deck door is not open, the F/A neds to be in the forward cabin. The F/A could still be serving beverages or picking up trash. Just making sure the F/A is "maintaining a presence" and making sure there are no terrorist or strange passenger who will try to go in the cockpit while the door is open. Personally, I would prefer to block the aisle with the cart between the cockpit and cabin. But Helll.....no, do we cross our arms. That's too bizarre!

I think the cart thing sounds better, some of us are not that big and could be run down by someone intent on getting up there. Now if Big Bertha is working "A" no problem. Speaking of Big Bertha, I flew with her the other day and since when do we blow our @$$ out when standing in the aisle in FC. I'm not kidding either, I think she blew 3D and F right off the tracks along with the bulkhead wall, I think she may have bruised her behind as well because she couldn't sit still for landing.

No silly, that is the pose I saw on the HP 737 when the F/A was yelling to the gate agent that she had no authority to disarm the door. The only difference was that F/A was doing the Wonder Woman pose in the kneeling position.

It's more like this without the bathing suit.
