If you have time, would you check today's Miami Herald for an open house ad for American Airlines hiring f/as. Do they ever hire "foreign nationals" out of Miami? Thanks.

Yes - can someone get to the bottom of this? Why are they recruiting for FAs when there are thousands on furlough? The only explanation I can think of is that it is for Eagle.

It would have to be AE. If they hired flight attendants for AA, the airline would find itself in a ton of legal trouble.

I doubt it is FN's. I would assume they are hired in their respective countries.

My guess is its AE BUT the ad says AA. The APFA has been contacted and are questioning mangt. If it is AE the AA ad is misrepresentation and you are correct, if it is AA, look out.

It is in fact American Eagle that is hiring in MIA. Don't get your panties in a wad! 😉

I beg your pardon...There are 4000 AA f/as currently furloughed. It is false advertising to imply that AA is hiring and then when you arrive, you find out it isn't AA but AE. Ever heard of bait and switch. You tell those that would actually want to return to the commuting, sub standard work rules, expensive insurance, fussy pax, long days (nights), and greatly reduced pay that they shouldn't be "a tad" upset about an ad in a major newspaper announcing hiring for a position that over a thousand will permanently lose in Oct. All because the APFA doesn't have the skill or the experience to negotiate "me too" provisions in the over inflated RPA.

Well, it wouldn't be the first time a newspaper f'ed up in a help wanted section, especially when AA has been hiring agents and fleet service clerks off the street.

According to AA/AE careers websites, the hiring is for Eagle.

Currently, American Airlines is not hiring Flight Attendants, nor are we accepting Employment Interest Forms for Flight Attendants at this time.

If you are interested in employment with our regional airlines associate, American Eagle, we invite you to visit American Eagle Careers. American Eagle is a wholly owned subsidiary of AMR Corporation.

This looks like a typical error by a Classified department editor--and if you are editing Classified ads, you are not the newspaper's powerhouse editor.

The letterhead that the ad request was on probably had something like "AA/AE" at the top.

The company sent out a message last night (I neglected to copy & paste it to relay to you all) which stated the ad was placed illegally by an anonymous person. The newspaper is working with AA to trace the credit card used. Bizarre.

Peace,

After our inquiries to both the APFA and the Co, corporate security is now involved. To some this may seem minor but to those still furloughed (especially the 1000+ that fall off the seniority list in Oct. because the APFA has not been able to secure the same recall provisions that every other dept. enjoys) this was devastating. Also, AA is right to pursue this "prank" due to the potential legal issues. I would be curious to see how many actually show up expecting to be interviewed. As the Co stated, AE does not advertise "in print". They have more than sufficient applications on file to fill any future requirements.

This appears to be an elaborate identity theft scam.
