The job postings for mechanics on Airtran.com require an A&P license and an FCC license. Does anyone know if they ever hire A&P mechanics without a FCC? Thanks, Brian

Don't be intimidated by not getting an FCC.
FCC test 'today' (from what I have heard) is a cake walk.
Spend the $500 for a 'test structured' class and take the test.
I don't even think you have to know what a resolver is or how to operate a Simpson 260 (much less a Fluke 77) 😛 anymore.
Good Luck![]()

I think that is the way it goes today. I got mine when they were only offered twice a year. I took it in an auditorium at some federal building with 300 others in downtown Atlanta. At the time it was a very tough test. There was a high failure rate for first time takers. There were 7 of of us from NWA taking it at the time. Only 2 passed on the first try. We were the ones who took a 6 month electronics course at Atlanta area tech prior to taking the test.
Wow, that was a while ago. 😱
I will get a definate answer for you when I get back home to ATL. I'm currently in Florida for a little R&R. 😀Thank you for the information. I am going to look into that.
Thanks, I was born down here as well B)Thank you QA, I do appreciate it. Hope you enjoy my home state of Florida.
