With ALL of us seeing, experiencing things we never thought we'd see,.......as far as the Airlines are concerned, and with conditional bailout $$ forthcoming, might it be time to Nationalize a handful of US Airlines ??
Something similar to, before deregulation ??

Nationalizing the airlines would be the worst thing that could be done.
Fewer jobs, lower wages , and the unions would cease to exist as we know them today.
This isn’t Russia or the European socialist.
The US airline industry is much stronger now than any European carrier.
Once things turn in about 6 to 8 months we will be better.
One thing this whole thing should expose though is the leadership of these airlines needs to take care of their people first and stop the greed to the stockholders.
Yes they are important but they need to have less say in how we are operated

Never let a good crises go to waste aye Bears?

Leave it to a Democrat to suggest the government use a crises to drive the wedge of government control in a private enterprise.

Trying to turn the airlines into Amtrak are we?

One could say the same thing about changing Unions, "changing bosses will not fix anything".
That's where you are completely wrong Bob.
You see, by the mechs and related replacing the asso. is a larger task than just replacing the bosses at the top of the asso., they will in fact change the ENTIRE representational union of both these industrial unions with their very own Class and Craft mechanics union. Changing unions and changing bosses are two total different ideas. If you were in the C&C you would understand a lot better. But since you are not, you continue to show that you have no clue whatsoever...

Can you imagine AmPlane? Always late, nasty service staff, and inedible food....

Nationalizing airlines would be the dumbest idea ever. Because it wouldn’t make another Amtrak, and Amtrak has never been successful in fighting other government agencies to try and get more money.

What makes you think that the airlines would be any more successful?

As we’re seeing in this crisis, public owned/operated hospitals seem to be the ones crying out the most for help. I’m not hearing privately held hospitals being in the same position of not having basic supplies or not enough beds.

Now, force all that government worker inefficiency on the airlines. Start with American as an experiment...

. Lol don’t kid yourself or stroke your ego too much.
I could give two chits about riding an amt,s coattails
It would also get better for you guys as well. When the mech and related leave the asso. that's a couple less groups that the asso would have to worry about. So maybe only what 8-10 groups to worry about? While the mechanics Class and Craft union will have one group to worry about. A better environment for all.

Agreed. Just from a "they deserve their own representation", I have always supported them and their fight. But I have also always said "get the f*** out of here if you think I want and/or need to grip tightly to the AMT coattail for anything. Thought we were past the comment, apparently not.

Let's not forget of it's nationalized all the far left Bernie Sanders supporters would demand an entitled free flight everyday. TAX the rich to pay for it. LOL...
