What's new

Finally an honest article about US

That was a great article. I don't agree with taking IFE off of the planes, like the article says, everyone is gonna bring on more crap with them to keep themselves entertained.....

.....which is gonna put the overall weight well above what we tried to reduce in the first place.

But then again, Tempe did the math on that....

<_<

While we are pulling our IFE systems out , Southwest is going to put them on their planes.

Catch-22.

Ed neglected to mention that US Airways is evaluating a replacement inflight entertainment system which will be similar to that which is available on JetBlue. In light of outrageous fuel costs, the airline is removing the inflight entertainment equipment now, rather than continue to incur the cost to maintain and operate a marginally used amenity. There will be a new replacement inflight entertainment system announced in the relatively near future. I know that it is fun to bash airlines but they are just trying to survive in extraordinarily challenging times.

The problem is NOT removing IFE, a la carte pricing, FF Programs or even charging for cokes. The problem can be boiled down to a failure to take the time to understand their entire customer base. Not just those residing west of the Mississippi.

Right on!

But why would they start trying to understand anything outside the Pacific and Mountain Time Zones now? Tempe has operated things with a regional mind-set since day one. "It worked just fine for HP. It will work just fine for US." I've heard those words quoted in multiple meetings by multiple decision makers.

I'm glad I don't have to listen to them - or experience the fallout - any longer. My latest trans-con on DL, from which I returned three days ago, was picture perfect (IFE pun intended).
