Any idea if "good" fares will be advertised soon as to flights to Tampa/Clearwater? Flying out of PIT. Thanks!

Fares for Mid Jan, Mid Week departure are running between $138.30 and 178.60 R/T all in.

So I don't know if that's a "Good" fare or not.
eh when pax ask for good fares, they are looking for the cardboard box and a free seat in the back of the bus.

Hey - be nice! Just hoping to not pay $300 RT/with connections like I've done many a time! I try to use USAirways first - my entire neighborhood works there and I don't want to see any more of them move! I've paid $700 for a Myrtle Beach RT non-stop so my 79 year old mother could do it easily! So please don't think I'm looking for free - I just hate seeing Southwest with $49 each way/non stop to the same destinations!

I'm not...I'm just a miserable whiner and complainer.

But, try Sunday mornings as well. Sometimes I swear they are working on the website over the weekend and crazy things happen. The key with HP is don't price too far in advance--you'll get screwed everytime. No doubt about it, seats at low fares will open up in many markets the closer you get to your trip. They try to fill the most undesirable flights first and then open the the more desirable flights later if the don't fill up at higher prices. They'll lie about availability and then miraculously the seats will open up.

Calista.........these people wouldn't know what airfares US is charging. I suggest you either continue to scan the highly frustrating US website or use www.farecompare.com

Farecompare.com will email you daily any updates for ALL of the airlines flying out of PIT or any airport you wish to use as your primary gateway.

Fares to FL ingeneral are lower since WN has been flying out of PIT. Good luck in your search.

Thanks PineyBob - I respect the turmoil your industry has endured and played havoc with your lives - just trying to become an educated consumer - this forum has helped me before and is always informative! Happy New Year to all!

I've found this to be true a lot lately. I was able to get my flights to LAS over Thanksgiving because I refused to purchase my ticket 14, 8 and even 2 weeks early. I waited 1 more week and I actually got flights and times that were well suited for my travel needs. AMAZING.

I'm not a Travelocity fan - but I saw the same craziness over a one week period - and a time period between 1:30 am and 2:30 am. The exact same 5 day/4 night package was actually $500 less during the late night period - so I did book it and then they give you a $250 credit for a new booking. I'm sure the hotel portion contributes to the decrease - but sometimes I don't think it is even possible to fly for what those packages run.

I apologize. I feel bad that I made that comment, and please don't think that I'm mean or disrespectful of you. I was out of line and I do hope you have a good flight, with whomever you may choose.

No apology needed - I appreciate the rousing - I try to keep US Airways on the forefront - I'm an old travel agent that remembers when they ruled the world and loved their customers!

well at least before Tempe stepped in
I think Tempe just refocused on trying to make a merger work.. that's their priority. While other things deteriorate, they are looking the other way or concentrating on merging with other airlines.

Removing F Class Seats, Devaluing the DM program were active moves that didn't just appear like thieves in the night.

The web page could be written off as a merely bungling a critical item.

It's all with the goal to just be "Good Enough" to keep the bulk of their VFF's & FF'ers.

Can't imagine what it must be like to work for a company whose stated goal is mediocrity.
It's a shame. Working for companies whose goals involve penny counting because they think it's saving them money is just wrong. It's like cutting corners.

Makes me wonder.. like how NASA, basically those astronauts ARE sitting on a big rocket made out of parts made by the lowest bidder.

It would be awesome if we had realiable services that would actually count for the long run, not some short term goal to have "barely working" tools to make the company run.

I glanced at the technology in use at the airports, the computers there are probably as old as the ones here in USV!! They are ancient PCs from the late 90s. Even at AB, we did desktop refreshes once every 3 years. And we were BEHIND everyone else, running 2000 when they had 2003, etc.

It's not just the technology we use to book trips for customers on, this phone system is horrible. 1/4 the time it's too loud, 1/4 the time it's too quiet, 1/4 the time there is a loud echo / interference / etc. 1/4 the time calls don't even go through.

I submitted my resume to Wells Fargo today, Unix Administrator, at least they would pay me $100,000.. no chance in hell US Airways would ever pay that salary.

I'm on a string PineyBob, and it's stretching to it's limit.. it's time for serious job search to continue. Maybe I'd return (if I left) to US Airways if it ever got it's act together, but I can't deal with the customers, the company, and being blamed for things outside of my control anymore. (I book vacations, not watch your baggage.. please..)
