Swooooosh!

Piney Bob,
Though I agree with the ''take care of the customer and they'll
take care of you'' philosophy. I believe it starts with the employee first.
Richard branson has said that ''When I see my companies starting
to struggle I immediately look to the employee needs and do any and
everything in my power to right the ship, which may include giving raises
even when the company is seeming to fail. I can not fix my companies by
slashing my employees and thier benifits. Thier the face of my company and
they'll reflect it onto the customer.''

Also SW offers something our company says we do not deserve :

As a SWA Employee you will receive Profit Sharing . . . and Southwest Airlines has had 33 consecutive years of profit!

Southwest Airlines has FABULOUS Medical, Dental and Vision plans for all Employees!

The Southwest Airlines University offers Career Development classes for all SWA Employees!

SWA Employees get a dollar for dollar match in their 401K - up to 7.3% of their investment!

Thanks

F/A pay at Virgin is the worst on the planet? Leaves Richard lots of wiggle room.

I agree perserverance and I know Piney does too.

From a pzx perspective, you can also "feel it" when you are flying on CO and WN....the people are just plain happier.

I personally believe The Sand Castle should be working MUCH harder with compensation. I read Mr. Parker's comments in the CLT Observer and just wondered how he said that stuff with a straight face. "We have to pay senior managment lots of money to stay competitive." What a crock. No wonder I left corporate America....

Personally, I think it is HORRIFIC that this company hasn't done more to take care of the very people that make it go. Then again, this company has made it VERY clear, it's leverage points where it tries to gain an advantage are (a.) employees and (b.) the customers. While most airlines and businesses are looking for ways to provide a BETTER product and leverage off technology and other things, US Airways leverages off the employees and pax.

I am not sure about today, but 5 years ago the CO employees were some of the lowest paid in the industry, and they had a great attitude.

It is what comes down from the top. Yes, I agree you do need to bring up the lowest scale to get qualified applicants, but it will be more attitude that gets you happy employees.
