Gasoline up 100% under Obama

Z

Never said Jefferson was. The above interpretation sounds very much like it to me.

You usually do not jump to conclusions or take things out of context like this. We have many who do that already. Please do not join their ranks.

He's asking you to go Lib Sparrowhawk......try iy you'll like it.....

As if our plutocratic perversion of capitalism has worked so well.

I still do not understand why people think of government in absolutes. I would rather take parts from various ideas and combine them. No single form of government is perfect. Raw capitalism has flaws.

Problem being Tree, the current circus up in DC right now, does not believe "parts and various ideas" are the answer. Total control over every aspect of American life and business should be run by government..............period !

"We are ready to rule !" ring a bell ?

With that I agree. Were the people every to rise up and take their government back the pols would be off the money waggon and the term civil servant would go back to its original meaning.

I'm calling bs on your story!

http://www.bhcourier.com/article/Local_News/Local_News/Southland_Gasoline_Prices_Highest_Since_August_2008/75088

I'm calling BS on your comprehension and analytical skills. From the article you linked:

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today to its highest amount since Aug. 23, 2008, increasing nine-tenths of a cent to $3.943.

The 37th increase in 38 days pushed the average price (CNS) Posted 9 cents higher than a week ago, 52.4 cents above what it was one month ago and 86.8 cents greater than it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 68.3 cents less than the record high of $4.626 set on June 21, 2008.

The article concerns the average retail price of gasoline in Los Angeles County, not the extremes that I discussed. That $4.62/gal average in LA County? There were dozens of stations in the Valley with prices for mid-grade and premium in excess of $5.00/gal. That the Beverly Hills Courier didn't note them does nothing to disprove my "story."

Here's an example of $5 gas in LA in late June, 2008:

The interwebs are full of similar photos.

So you got screwed by some stations that were gouging and now you use it as defense for your argument? Not very bright are you?

Duh...........think it started........Conservatives.............Tea Party............. 😱

Ain't going to be done over night or in one election cycle.

Apathy has long term consequences........

I'm not talking about the other side of the same wooden nickle we've been deal with for the past 40 or 50 years or more.

The people I am referring to are in the middle. The people who realize that the current system is broken and that the republicans and democrats do not have the answers but are the problem.

Yeah, they call themselves Tea Party.

Want to know why Europeans buy smaller cars? It has less to do with customer demand, and everything to do with how the infrastructure was built over the past 60 years.

In older cities and towns, they're extremely space constrained. All of their infrastructure is built on a narrower gauge than what is used in North America. Lanes are narrower, turns are tighter, garages are smaller, and roof clearances within structures are shorter. Even their semi trucks and trailers are physically smaller.

Now, that said, I have seen F150's in France on occasion. They have to take 2 deep x 2 wide parking spaces when they go to the supermarket And the F150 isn't exactly what I'd call a monster truck. My longbed Dodge 2500 would have been impossible to drive there.

A Jeep Cherokee or Liberty looks like a Hummer when parked next to all those French, German, and Asian cars. And neither of those is what I'd call a full size SUV. My Honda minivan would be bigger than a commercial delivery van.

Go to Australia, and you see more fullsize vehicles. But that's because they built to a slightly larger gauge.

Good Point, I've driven in Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg and Germany. Rented an Audi A6 which not all that big (Camry. Accord size) and I felt like I was driving a friggin' 1965 Lincoln Continental size wise. Next time I rented a little Mercedes. Sounded like an enraged sewing machine and handled like a roller skate and frankly the fuel economy wasn't terrific relative to the lack of critter comforts but it was easier to get around Antwerp, Brugge and other older cities.

Nope, I didn't get screwed nor was I gouged. I've long been in favor of higher gasoline prices. You posted that you didn't recall gas ever hitting $5/gal when Bush was President and my post shows that you obviously didn't drive by any of my neighborhood stations in July (and late June) of 2008 when I saw plenty of gas over $5/gal.

Keep blaming the President for retail gasoline prices. Might as well howl at the moon. And I'm the one who's not very bright? 😀

I'm these fees have nothing/little do do with customer demand for smaller vehicles. These fees are from 2007 but I think it gives a pretty good idea why people drive smaller more fuel efficient vehicles in addition to the fact that roads a bit smaller.

EU taxes

You did get gouged. Youhave no proof that says otherwise.

Also if you are a supposed "conservative" who voted for Obama and likes high gas prices then no, you are not very bright at all.
