The only way I can justify their trying this is if the receivable from DL is so big it will bankrupt them. Usually the way companies get around that is they don't get paid if DL goes bust, but they raise their prices/skimp on quality post bankruptcy so they claw it back, over time. The only ones who really have a hold on DL are the credit card companies--they stop releasing cash to the company for unflown trips...
