[P][EM][STRONG]Three days after 9/11 Bush was president...wouldn't an anti labor president had just said May the best team win and not put $5 billion towards the airlines? Wouldn't an anti union president had made $0 dollars available in loans available? Is the $10 billion being provided by only airline and aerospace workers? Or might some constituents feel a little unsure about guaranteeing any monies towards companies that in the days leading up to (and indeed the year following) that were facing demands for industry leading wages?[BR][/STRONG][/EM][/P]
[P]The 5 billion and 10 billion was to stabilize the industry, not layoff 130,000 employees. They gave millions to the victims of the events, but nothing to Oklahoma City families.[/P]

[P][STRONG][EM]What should the administration have done? IIRC, a lot of Americans weren't flying in the months immediately following 9/11. Should Bush have reimplemented the Civil Conservation Corps to get those folks back to work? What about the non-union telecom workers that don't have jobs? There's more than 130,000 in that industry alone that have become statistics in todays economy. [BR][/EM][/STRONG][/P]
[P]If a President can order airline workers back to work in the interest of national security, he whould have instructed the airlines to help the employees as much as possible and not provide corporate welfare while people lose everything they have and Wolf still enjoys his French wines.[/P]
[P][EM][STRONG]So, if Al would have been president, he wouldn't have tried the same thing? [/STRONG][/EM] [BR][/P]
[P]No Al would have not, Democrats let labor and management work it out, Clinton was President in 1999 when we were ready to go out and no PEB was Created, nor did Clinton order NWA's Pilots back to work when they went on strike. A strike is the only thing labor has when it deals with a company that does not want to be fair, by taking away that right you tip the scale to management and treat workers unjust.[/P]
[P][STRONG][EM]Not many unions in Federal Government jobs. Never has been. Homeland Security is a government department. [BR][/EM][/STRONG][/P]
[P]Wrong, the Federal Government is the highest unionized workforce in this country, all departments except CIA and the Military are have unionized workforces, better go check your information. And the Homeland Security department does not yet exist.[/P]
[P][STRONG][EM]I wouldn't be so sure about that. There isn't much more that Gore could have done for workers, and if you don't think Gore or Clinton favored corporate America, how can you explain the growth of Enron and Worldcom for the previous 8 years?[/EM][/STRONG][/P]
[P]Democrats historically have always done more for labor, FDR is the poster child, Enron and Worldcom grew under the prosperous times and the government has not done anything for their workers either.[/P]
[P][STRONG][EM]I don't see anything the Bush could be called responsible for.[/EM][/STRONG][/P]
[P]He is single handly responsible for providing corporate welfare to the airlines and not doing anything for the laid off workers, how can UA get a loan if the CEO got $3,000,000 just for walking in the door? The ATSB does not have to make labor take concessions, the airlines system of businsess does not work, it is proven facts, instead of throwing money at corporations and gutting labor, force the airlines to fix the business model, if you sell a ticket for $100 and it cost the airline $150 to operate, that is crazy, you throw our tax dollars into a black hole, the airlines business model is flawed and the solution is not to give them free money and gut someone's ability to survive.[/P]
[P][BR][BR] [/P]

[P]Post relevant facts, Lenin has nothing to do with this.[/P]
[P]We can give billons to every country in the world, provide corporate welfare, but we let children be homeless, provide no healthcare for them and let me go to bed hungry at night. [/P]
[P]Boy we really have our priorities in order, is it too much to ask to help out our own people at home who are in need?[/P]
