George Bush's answer on getting rid of the USA

So how come you're blaming Clinton for NAFTA? Bush would have done it had he been re-elected. Would that have made it better? Also, Al Gore's smirk cannot compare at all to that "permasmirk" that GW Bush has.
I am neither Dem Or Pub....so go bark up another tree.

By the way-- your reply to Lilly Pad I agree with 1000 percent.

ALL of them are members of the Council on Foreign Relations...the committee that rules this country and is part of ruling the world. There is NO difference between the present American parties except NAME.

They are from the same ilk. They are corporate OWNED lock stock and barrel. The military industrial complex runs America (Eisenhower's BIGGEST fear/threat to Democracy has come to pass)...and that is who demanded this fake war...to the tune of almost a TRILLION dollar PROFIT..for them. The death of an American soldier is absolutely meaningless.

The ONE Presidential candidate who does NOT belong to the CFR is...RON PAUL.

Well then since the devil doesn't own him is wasting his time and our pipe dreams.

I call BS. Is this another one of your white lies? Sorta like the one where you say you didn't vote for Bush... but in previous posts you say you did vote for bush?

What gives... why don't you own up to it?

Ah...Clinton. Because George HW Bush wasn't reelected to finish the job he started. Remember...Perot was the one who coined the "giant sucking sound"...and he was campaigning against BUSH.

Bush got it for going with the Dem's on raising taxes....after a campaign promise not to.They stuck it where the sun don't shine during elections and capitalized on it and then Perot siphoned enough votes to let Clinton win with less than 50% of the vote.

Ross was quite right about the giant sucking sound...and it wouldn't matter who was prez,Dem or GOP in that respect.

C'mon...thats a Clinton cliche... :lol:

The reality of workplace economics and unionism with regard to efficiency,competition and workplace rules have gotten too far out of hand and must come together to turn America back to a manufacturing based economy...which for the most part will never happen.Global economics will bring Uncle Sam to his knees creating long lines much akin to buying toilet paper and bread in Russia someday.

Why do you give a whit? Do my words pierce you that hard or do you have a complex?

Flamers mostly act that way…you fit the mold perfectly.

Your faith is convincing others to convert to your twisted belief system by pointing fingers away from yourself where the hurt is too painful to acknowledge let alone accept. Hell’s gate is a sorry place to be, but comfortable nonetheless for lost souls. It’s like an antiseptic administered by Satan to keep you blinded and happy on your lost hopeless path. He owns you, and you accept him. Proof is in your words. Can you see your reflection in the mirror or is that too a fantasy?

700IAM,

You NEED Psychiatric HELP ........................."YESTERDAY" !!! :blink: :blink: :blink:

For what It's worth;

LILY;

I try very hard, to follow your line of thinking(on the current topic at hand)(US workers etc.), but I must tell you that we "part ways" towards the end of your analysis.

KCFlyer;

I'm "with you" most of the way on this topic.

And to NxNW;

I'm(slowly) starting to think, that there IS, NOT much difference between political parties, when I comes to the bottom line $$$$$...(local "12", your NOT reading a "misprint") !!! :shock:

As for this Industry(which a LOT of us love, but often won't admit it), I really feel, that the "lucky ones" , and their unions will(eventually) be OK.

Meaning.."the lucky ones"..being the reduced number who survive the Mega-Mergers(like AA or NW, perhaps DL, and WN)(donttouchthebeauty, don't get your THONG in a twist yet. UAL will be a part of DL most likely)

Meaning;

Once there are ONLY 3/4 carriers in the US, the respective companies will be much Larger, hense the workers will regain power lost, and perhaps even move forward.

NO matter how much corporate GREED/Outsourcing, the Unions will NEVER be fully exterminated, as the Capitalists(AT ANY CO$T) would hope to see.
The Airlines, Railroads, Dock Workers, (big city) Bus drivers etc, will ALWAYS be unionized.

If the public/Management(s) etc. gripe about worker Apathy.....well all I will tell them is......."YOU reap what you sow"!

700IAM,

There has been great results reported with.......PAXIL-CR !!!!!!!!!!

NHBB:

Yeah, I understand that my line of thinking on this topic is not the most popular on these boards. But regardless if whether a strong manufacturing base is in our country's future, I think we should all be able to agree that we need to be more innovative in our work processes and ideas.

I have an example from manufacturing if you will: Henry Ford, although not the creator of the assembly line, took the assembly line and built his factories around it for mass production... like no other before him. He took an idea, put it to work, and rocked it! The result: he paid his workers better than all the competitors; the benefits were flowing. He was not concerned about cheap labor... he was concerned with innovation.

Likewise, we should not be organizing our efforts towards protectionism or isolationism to combat other's cheap labor force; we should be progressing towards innovation.

Gilding...it's NOT JUST MANUFACTURING. It's ANYTHING. Companies look for the cheapest way - period. It takes PEOPLE to build, service, or serve an industry. And today PEOPLE are considered liabilities - especially when other countries are teeming with people willing to work for $10 a day or less. BTW....part of the innovation that Henry Ford had in paying his workers better was that they could AFFORD TO BUY the product they were building. In paying his employees better - he was insuring a customer base for his product. If he paid them slave wages, Ford Motor Company would have sold very few automobiles

They should be looking to make things cheaper. They should be looking for more efficient ways to do things. Hence the Ford assembly line... if you make things more efficient, then it *should* get passed to the consumer. If things are not being passed on, that is a problem with the company, not with free trade! See the Ford example again... he did not sale cars by paying his employees more as you suggest. He wouldn't be able to sale 1 million cars off of his employees alone. No, he did it by being innovative and passing some of the savings by dropping the price of the cars... like in 1915 from $850 to $300.

If you want to buy more expensive products or services, be my guest. But I prefer to pay less for products. I do not understand why you are so against innovation.

You know gilding, I only belonged to a union once in my career, back in 1980. Ever since, I've been non union - but I recognize that even though I am non union, I would not have been paid nearly as good a wage as I was getting without them. Same thing with Ford. If Ford was paying $3 an hour to build cars, and someone else was paying $3 a DAY - a lot of folks would leave to work for Ford. So...in order to keep employees, they paid $3 an hour. I'm not against "innovation". But it seems that the "innovators" usually sell out to big business, and their innovation goes overseas to be implemented on any large scale. You know, I WANT America to be a leader in manufacturing. I WANT America to be a leader in service...hell, I WANT America to be a leader in innovation. But nobody seems willing to pay for innovation - not when the innovator can take the idea to China and have it done for less. Innovation should create jobs...and it does...but they don't stay here - not for long anyways.

And yeah, I'd be willing to pay more for QUALITY - something that is ALSO cut in the quest to cut costs.

No, I will pay more for a product if the alternative is an unsafe product. I will pay more for a product if it is a better value as well. That is why, among other reasons, I do not shop at Walmart. But I still prefer to pay less. And if I can get a better car for less money through an Asian company, I will do so. If I can purchase a rake made in China that is half the price as the American made rake, I will do so.

If I am completing a transaction that requires the use of attorneys, I will not accept an Indian attorney... I will use an American.
