Let''s get some good news on this board and see how long it takes someone to trash it.

UAL Plan Draws Kudos

SHHHHHHHHHHH!

Don''t anyone tell Chip Munn about this thread. If he finds it, the next thing you know he''ll be cutting and pasting and high-lighting all over the place.

They still dont discuss a full plan because it''s competitive. October is 4 long months away.

John Tague is kicking ass in his first weeks at UA. Launched a major marketing campaign, probably talked Tilton out of the big LCC concept, streamlined boarding, added inflight email. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

Trash Trash Trash.

Any news that isn''t bad is welcome. They still really don''t discuss a full plan. October will be here soon.

Sorry to inform you chaps, but my sources at the FT tell me that the Alabama Retirement authorities are using a BMI office in Manchester as a drop point. It seems that Mr. Tague is really an operative for the Alabamians and his efforts in making United an attractive airline to business travelers like myself (I will probably be the first to sign up for the e-mail) are merely a ploy to "fatten the calf" of United for its eventual subsumation into Airways. Operatives have been seen dropping caches of information at this office for well over 18 months. This all came to light recently as one of the drops went bad and a passerby picked from the sidewalk a sheaf of documents relating the plans for Uniteds 747-400s. It seems that United will be placing these aircraft back into service under the colors of Airways with Airways staff. It has also been reported that the gates at Heathrow will be turned over to Mr. Bonderman because he simply (like the rest of the world) "expressed an interest in them." Apparaently if United misses their DIP convenants by so much as a penny then the banks will pull the plug. "You do not think we would work with United if it were turning the ship around do you" one unnamed executive and rumour monger was quoted as saying. They could be on the upswing but a penny is a penny and if they are not profitable by fall then the game is over no matter how strong the momentum is to the upside.
Sorry to rain on the parade.

UKridge,

If your Unique Corporate Transaction theory comes to pass then you can ride in style from LHR to ORD on a shiny new regional jet.

Don''t worry. I caught the sarcasm. (maybe that''s just the New Yorker in me.)

Thanks for the good laugh. Most will get the joke eventually. It just takes some a bit longer.

O.K. Sorry. It was a joke. Humour. We still have that do we not? In a previous post I enquired as to who C. Munn was. Someone recomended that I puruse the Airawys board for examples of his prognstications. I did just that and my oh my the theories that abound. Now, the starter of this thread in a very tongue-in-check manner said that it would not be long before someone tried to tear down the bit of United good news. So, in the spirit of humour I picked up the C. Munn thought and ran with it. We are allowed to have fun are we not?

Absolutely, but please do not reveal your sources. Could you please try boldface type to highlight the important parts so we know just what to read, and for those of us that can't seem to pick up on that, make the typeface huge, okay?

Good point. I was thinking that if there were still confusion then I would have to switch to the bold and large font. I actually have thought that I could implement this stategy on the continent. Reveal to the good reader what Rod Eddington (BA), Sir Michael (the head of BMI), or Mr. Leary and I chatted about at a working lunch but only in the most secretive and conspiritorial fashion. In other words I could not directly quote Sir Michael of course but merely let it be known that I was priviy to the deliberations.
The other sources as you mention will however, have to remain secret lest there be a falling out among the very heads of Europe's major airlines.

Ukridge responds (or replies, or opines, or pontificates, or enlightens, or reveals etc. but all certainly in a slightly haughty and patronizing tone of course)
