American Airlines, BA in codeshare deal
Dubai |Staff Report | 24-11-2003

American Airlines (AA) and British Airways (BA) have begun a worldwide codeshare agreement that allows customers to fly to hundreds of destinations around the world, including Dubai. AA now operates out of Dubai International Airport through aircraft belonging to BA.

The deal allows American Airlines customers to book codeshare flights on British Airways beyond London Heathrow to destinations in the Middle East. British Airways, in turn, will place its code on American and American Eagle flights beyond American's six United States gateways at Dallas-Fort Worth, New York Kennedy, Boston, Chicago O'Hare, Miami and Los Angeles to cities in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America.

The codeshare agreement covers other Middle East destinations including Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Muscat and Doha.

Since AA got gov approval for codesharing with BA they will be codesharing about 200+ flights. Should be a good revenue boost as BA's reach around the world is unmatched!

It's old news, but very good news.

Look for more and more announcements of codeshares with BA; when the agreement was first announced, AA and BA said that the codeshare cities would be added gradually.
