As GoldenRam94 said, this is a common business practice. The most logical reason I can come up with is that firms want folks filling the outside director positions who already have similar positions and are less likely to make waves because they understand the rules of "The Club". (Yes, I am being cynical today.)

Not a big deal really, it has already been said that this is common practice. I guess he really is one of the PHX Elite now and is moving up in status socially. Maybe this is actually good for US. Suppose he runs into some real people oriented types who convince him of the error of his ways?

We can only hope. He shouldn't be awarded for running the worst airline in the industry. Sounds like Franke, all over again. Or maybe he had something to do with this.
