The "debate" between the supporters of the IBT and the IAM rages on with emotions high and logic and reason overwhelmed with attacks and counter-attacks.

Is it possible for a thread to exist where the posters would agree NOT to attack the opponents or the statements of the others, and not even mention the opposing union, but instead state their own case in a logical fashion why they believe the union they support is the best.

Since we most likely won't witness a true debate, how about a discourse free of slander and innuendo, but let the "campaigners" simply list what's great or good about the union they support.

It would be great if the posters would refrain from all mention of the opposing union, just state your own case for us to consider.

If I remember correctly,when this all started there were claims being made by several Pro-IBT posters.The attacks were the result of providing factual counters to these bogus claims provided and were supplemented with verifiable sources which were also ignored and not acknowledged.

While there are some rational people on both sides, it's unlikely for any thread on this board to remain rational and factual. The internet has provided an avenue to express ideas in a way that doesn't have the same accountability as face to face communication. Communication between all the posters on this board would be much different if there wasn't a screen to hide behind. On the flip side, sometimes it's good to say what's on your mind without holding back so the "screen" to hide behind allows people to be more open. With all this new openeness comes the task of more filtering and processing of information. My filter pile of BS needs to be emptied at a ratio of 4 to 1 when reading info on Unions. This is the highest BS to rational info of any topic on this board. Not because Unions are BS, but because it is a very emotional issue that effects the lively hood of every union member (and non-union about to be creeted). So let the info flow...it would be nice if it was done in a professional manner, but don't hold your breath.

I agree it may be an exercise in futility.

But at least the opportunity is here for anyone who wishes to articulate the positives of their own viewpoint if they can do so without mentioning or attacking the other side.

Ironically, the most vocal and strident are now rendered speechless when asked to simply articulate what makes their "team" the better choice.

Disappointing, but not surprising.

Reminds me of the sham of politics... no statesmen or patriots left, just shills and idealogues trying to tear down everyone else rather than express original thought.

This will truly be an interesting year, with lots of changes coming.

The answer to the original question is "NO" there cannot be a list of any sort that will not be disputed by the other union members or certain individuals.

The members of both unions will stand up for there respective union and do it with purposeful intent. That is the way it should be....
