So lets get this straight, Obama doesnt want to "meddle" in what happen in Iran, and yet is outraged by the recent events in Honduras and sides with dictators like Castro, Chavez and Ortega. WTH?

FOX News The U.N. General Assembly’s decision to condemn the military coup in Honduras and demand the return to power of President Manuel Zelaya has created a rare incidence of near universal support for a man who has defied his nation’s constitution and Congress.

But while Zelaya wins widespread support, including from President Obama as well as Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez, critics in the United States are asking why the U.S. leader doesn’t take a stand against clearly illegal actions by Honduras’ ousted chief executive.

“Manuel Zelaya trampled the Honduran constitution by pushing for his illegal referendum to allow him to rule indefinitely, and by firing the top military official, Gen. Romeo Vasquez Velasquez, when he refused to comply with Zelaya’s unconstitutional orders,†said Rep. Connie Mack, R-Fla.

Zelaya, the ousted leftist leader, ignored a ruling from the Honduran Supreme Court, warnings from the military and opposition by a sizable swath of his country’s population when he maneuvered to amend his country’s constitution, apparently in hopes of extending his own rule.

Many sectors of Honduran society now support the ascension of congressional leader Roberto Micheletti, who was sworn in as president after the military stormed the presidential compound and whisked Zelaya to Costa Rica. Elections are scheduled to be held in November.

Sadly the Obama administration has joined Castro and Chavez attacking Honduran supreme court and congress for defending their constitution. Having Castro call for defending democracy should convince any reasonable person that Honduras was on the edge of a leftist dictatorship.

You Fox News types crack me up! Chavez and Ortega dictators? These two, just like Zelaya in Honduras were elected by the people through the democratic process. Isn't this what Uncle Scam preaches? Isn't "democracy" why the U.S. has 150,000 combat troops in Iraq and thousands more in Afghanistan?
It's funny how when a Latin American country goes against U.S. corporate interests and looks out for its own people, their leaders are labeled dictators and "enemies" of "America"
When Latin American countries opress their people with death squads in support of U.S. imperialism (Colombia comes to mind) and is kept in banana republic status by their ruling elite with the help of IMF loans, USAID and CIA shenanigans, they are "friends" of "America." BUNCH OF HYPOCITES!
These same corporate interests on whose band wagon you jump on, are the same ones that are de-industrializing the U.S. and turning it into a third world country.
By the way, the military coup leaders of Honduras got their training from good 'ole Uncle Scam in the "School of the Americas." This school for dictators and death squads now renamed Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) in Fort Benning, GA, was once in the Panama Canal Zone.

Just like the Democrats and the Republicans.: Two sides of the same coin, both controlled by corporate interests.

Do your research then on what has happen in those two countries. Rampant intimidation, voter fraud, overt seizure of govt control by one person. Oh wait, thats the US. No wonder Obama likes them so much.

Just more proof how the media has the Honduras situation totally wrong. In fact, what happened here is nothing short of the triumph of the rule of law.

To understand recent events, you have to know a bit about Honduras's constitutional history. In 1982, they adopted a new Constitution that enabled an orderly return to democracy after years of military rule. After more than a dozen previous constitutions, the current Constitution, at 27 years old, has endured the longest.

When Zelaya published that decree to initiate an "opinion poll" about the possibility of convening a national assembly, he contravened the unchangeable articles of the Constitution that deal with the prohibition of reelecting a president and of extending his term. His actions showed intent.

The Supreme Court and the attorney general ordered Zelaya's arrest for disobeying several court orders compelling him to obey the Constitution. He was detained and taken to Costa Rica. Why? Congress needed time to convene and remove him from office. With him inside the country that would have been impossible. This decision was taken by the 123 (of the 128) members of Congress present that day.

Don't believe the coup myth. The Honduran military acted entirely within the bounds of the Constitution. The military gained nothing but the respect of the nation by its actions.

Oh, bull caca! 1982 was the height of U.S. supported death squad activites, ie. Battalion 316.
Who was the U.S. ambassador at this time? John Negroponte. Johnny was involved in the Phoenix Project during the Viet Nam war. No doubt his expertice was priceless to the death squads.
The Honduran "constitution" is a document written by and for the ruling elite of Honduras. These ignoble oligarchs (just like the rest of Latin America's ruling classes) line their pockets with IMF loan moneys while keeping Honduras a base for U.S. imperialism and in perpetual banana republic status.
Zelaya's "crime" was to poll the people to see if they wanted a referendum to change the constitution. This was deemed "unconstitutional," by the oligarchy controlled Supeme Court. What kind of constitution allows a Supreme Court to order the military to remove a president?
I love how the sign in the picture is in English, just like the ones in Iran. I thought ESPANOL was the language of Honduras?
Hopefully by the time this is over, the coup plotters will be arrested, and their supporters have to flee to Miami. There they can commiserate with the rich Venezuelan "exile$" and the old guard Cuban elites over a few mojitos or "Cuba Libres."

People are missing the point altogether, Zelaya wanted to usurp the constitution and afford himself to serve more then the 2 terms (serve for life) ala Chavez. He was making a run as a self appointed dictator, and the govt invoked legislative powers outlined in their constitution and removed him immediately. The media in all their ignorance spun it into a "military coup".
