I just had my Holiday heart warming feelings shattered by this bit of bad news.
I'm afraid it's time to start some fundraisers and see if we can help them out.
I'll try and start to get the ball rolling!

Here it is, have a kleenex handy.

Dont count on it. I just heard that the TWU is having a marathon session with the company next week. This will be with just the sub-committee, everyone else was told to stay home and wait for a conference call. When the TWU announces they have a TA with AA that gives AA a four year contract with more huge concessions and paltry increases the stock will soar. They will get their best bonus ever! The TWU has never let AA down yet!! My advice as a worker, buy AA stock now!

Dont worry fellas, we'll get em next time!

How bout leading by example!!!

The new CEO of Continental Airlines Inc. says he will refuse to accept his $730,000 salary or annual bonus until the company makes a full-year profit.
Jeffery A. Smisek, who became CEO on Friday after Lawrence Kellner stepped down to join a private-equity firm, told employees of his pledge Monday.
Continental, the nation's fourth-largest airline by traffic, lost $367 million in the first nine months of last year.
Smisek said if employees want better pay and benefits, they need to focus on making money. He said he was making his pledge because "the tone for any business is set at the top.

The tone for any business is set at the top. What a concept!!!

"Smisek said if employees want better pay and benefits, they need to focus on making money."

Unlike Arpey and AA,
I wonder if Smisek gives his airline the resources to get the job done. Including the employees. ^_^

And how we do that is by demanding higher wages and demonstrate that we would be willing to engage in job actions in order to get it. 40 years of passive behaviour and "working together"has not led to increased living standards, in fact its led to the opposite.

As far as making sure the company makes money thats what managemnt is for. No matter how contientious and productive we strive to be managment can always find a way to make the company lose money.

At least in the group I'm around, it makes no difference what our so-called "representation" negotiates - whatever the twits bring back is DOA.

We may not get to engage in self-help due to an overly corporate-friendly government but many, even some I was very surprised to hear say what they did, have had enough of AMR's tactics and the corporate and union lies.

Lets strive for seventh place
the "NADA" position

Well we (the mechanics) are already there.
1) UPS
2) SWA
3) Fed Ex
4) Jet Blue
5) Air Tran
6) Continental
7) American

I dont care what anybody says Mechs at Fed Ex and UPS are our peers just like SWA, Continental etc. We should not allow the company to dictate who we consider to be our peers. We all work for carriers that havent gone BK lately. We all work heavy turbine aircraft and dont think for a moment that Fed Ex and UPS dont tell the mechs at those carriers that we in the airlines are their peers! So if we can be used as an arguement by management as to why they shouldnt ask for more then they can be used by us to bolster our arguement why we should demand more!

No Gerard is more focused on "diversity", kittens and sunshine.... 🙄

Wouldn't it be a crying shame if some of the high-rollers got pissed and quit?

Nah - the article says the BOD can choose to not follow the formula if the kiddies really whine and whimper.

I'm continually amazed how much time and energy y'all spend focused on crap like this... if half that effort were directed at your negotiations, perhaps you'd have a contract by now.

Good point, but as you may be aware, Jim Little is preparing to sell the membership out again.
Also, we cannot vote Jim Little out!

I don't view management bonuses while working under concessions obtained while threatening bankruptcy as crap.

Directing effort at negotiations with the TWU is not only a waste of time but would come closer to being defined as crap in my opinion. This union is not a union of members with concerns that will be addressed by the negotiators. This union is instead a dues collection agency that is both an extension of AA Management and the Democratic Party.

This is why the attempt to change came about in the first place.

Just out of curiousity with your understanding of this dues collection agency, exactly where and how would you suggest effort be directed towards negotiations that will result in anything more than waste of time? It is obvious now that the stall in negotiations is to wait for Obama Care, have the company lawyers get an agreement based on that health care before the Bus Drivers, and Toolbox Billy Bobs get an understanding of the legislation. We have witnessed this before.

If the Democrat controlled Senate version passes, we will be charged 40% surtax on our current health plan to pay for those that have none. That is called right-to-work when it comes to union dues collection and non-payment by workers. Yeah those Democrats are real friends of labor and working men and women.

One of these days, the union members will wise up and figure out neither political party is our friend and things will begin to change. Maybe not.
