How many hours did you fly this year?

I'm going to be just under 700. Spent the year on reserve.

If it's any consolation, when I was on reserve in October (at AA we only serve reserve 3 months/yr after first 3 years), I only flew about 50 hours. I brought 5 hours into the month on a fly-through, and had recurrent training in October which was worth about 8 hours. I ended the month with 61 hours. Thank goodness for the 75 hour guarantee on reserve months.

What is your monthly guarantee at US Airways? If reserves are not being used any more than your hours indicate, aren't you afraid of a furlough? Sounds as if reserves are overstaffed. (Or, your blockholders show up to work on a regular basis. )

US (East) has had a habit of not being able to manage reserves for well over a decade, although through several concessions they've gotten several changes to the reserve system (all for the worse from the reserve pilot's perspective). It's either feast or famine for reserve coverage - feast in the middle of the month and famine at the start and end of the month.

Not sure what your definition of feast or famine is, but generally, Beginning and end of month Reserves get abused. Middle of month sit around.

Reserve guarantee is 72 for long call, 76 for short. and 71 for block holders I believe... But think most block holders end up with 85+hours a month..

That's what I meant - either reserves are flying their butts off or sitting around. "Feast" = lots more than enough, "famine" = distinct shortage. That was a problem almost every month in the early 90's and despite all the changes to the reserve system it's still a problem. Blockholders flying all they can just exaggerates the problem. And that explains why only reserves have answered the question so far - the blockholders would prefer not to say how many hours they're flying.

I have no problem saying how much I fly...
I typically SAP down to the minimum and if I want/can pick up time I will.
I try to fly 14 days.
however usally 1 month is close to the CAP

702 hours in the first 11 months as a line holder..

but I also manage 10 other people in my mortgage origination business, but that is slow this time of year.

510 hrs as #1 75/76 BH. I sap low and bid DUB which they buy a lot for training, also had a few health issues. I promise to fly less next year.

I noticed your DUB thing and am jealous, I'm calling in sick and your getting your trips bought.....atta boy. Range Resoursce just drilled a second deep gas well on my property in Pa. so I may beat you out of here. Anyway I cant wait to look back on this as a bad dream.
