How many members of the Bush administration does it take to change a light bulb?

Um... the Ghandi quote wasn't "hatred of God"...it was rather a questioning of whether or not Christians actually follow what Christ taught. Many don't.

We agree completely here. Many so called believers don't follow his teachings but instead make a mockery out of the true believers via their actions and for that there is a special place reserved for them in hell. Yes, that fact is in the word as is every other aspect of this life.

So how about a Mormon as President Mr. 700IAM?

Do they not mock your beliefs?

Truly scary 700IAM, for if your God is as mean and vengeful as you make him out to be, then i'll have what's behind door #2.

Have you ever noticed that 700IAM turns into the very thing he claims to hate when he talks about peple of different religious persuasions. Sounds just as bigoted as the fools he claims to detest. Spare me the hellfire and brimstone 700IAM. Just because my God isn't in the mold of yours, i doubt i'm doomed to a "special place in Hell" as you say.

Religion may have a good influence on relationships among people within the same religious group, but does it really do more good than harm once we move beyond this?

Sometimes it would appear religion does more to divide people along religious and ethnic lines than it does uniting them in peace and harmony.

George McLauchlan of the New Zealand Herald once wrote,

"Religion is essentially and inescapably a human activity. If it were a divine activity, it would have a single version authorised and authenticated by the one true god."

Not saying he's right or wrong, but it does make me wonder.

What does God say about a man who commits adultery, and I am not talking about Clinton.

Clarification won't hid your twisted jealously Mr. 700. Hell you had your shot and missed. You know exactly what I am implying here. It’s ancient history too-boot.

I can answer the question though....it's a big no no...so what's the point here? You were reprimanded once for this, you think you would learn because I know you’re not stupid.

Drop it right now and so will I. I have nothing to lose, nothing whatsoever and will push this into infinity if you want.

I found what’s really important which can’t be taken away. Nothing else matters including being thrown off these boards.

Grace and forgiveness is why I am still breathing, you?

Peace 700-- the real kind

Last time I checked I did not mention any names about what I posted.

700IAM,

It appears that a "scandal of sorts" is "just below the surface" here, on our lil' group, the Water Cooler !

Though I'm not accusing anyone of "Moral Impropriety", ..."700UM's" ........direct question .........about ADULTERY, definitely has my curiosity at picque level !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm on a CRUSADE of sorts.

Having been LIED TO, during all of my years of formal public school education(the accuracy of US History), Having been LIED TO all of the years of my formal religious upbringing(I don't BLAME my parents, how could I,they were LIED TO as well), my mission in life is to Expose christianity for the HOAX that (IMHO) it IS, ..but MORE especially....(like a BLOOD HOUND) to "root out" christian "FALSE PROPHETS" !!!!!!!............................NOTHING GIVES ME GREATER PLEASURE, ......N O T H I N G !!!

700IAM, before you sign me up for an EXORCISM, let me state Emphatically, that I believe a lot of what the MORTAL MAN/PROPHET JESUS, recommended.
This world would be SO better off, if a lot of "his" beliefs were Implemented.

Now YOUR TURN !!

With all due respect (Bears) I could'nt just let this go without responding, and Im by no means trying to steal anothers thunder nor take sides, simply would like to point out the obvious.

Lord, Liar, or Lunatic?

Even those who are not persuaded by Christianity often have great respect for Jesus. Among those who reject the idea that Jesus was God incarnate, there are many who are nevertheless followers of him to some degree. “Jesus was a great moral teacherâ€, some say, “but he wasn’t Godâ€. According to this view, Jesus is to be followed as a great human being, but not as a divine one.

This idea that Jesus was merely a great human being, i.e. a great human being but nothing more, is, as C.S. Lewis argued in Part 2 of Mere Christianity, indefensible.

Jesus made the most astonishing claims, not only about God, society and ethics, but also about himself. He claimed to have the authority to forgive sins, to be the representative of all humanity come to die in order to reconcile man to God, and to be the only way for people to attain salvation.

Faced with the fact that Jesus made these claims about himself, there are three things that we might say about him: Either Jesus’ claims were false and he knew it, or his claims were false and he didn’t know it, or his claims were true. None of these suggests that Jesus was a great, but merely human, teacher. Anyone who has that view needs to think again.

The first thing that we might say about Jesus is that his claims were false and he knew it, in which case he was a liar. If Jesus did not believe that his claims about himself were true, then when he made those claims he was lying.

Jesus’ claims about himself were so central to his teachings, though, that if they were lies then he can hardly be deemed a great teacher. If Jesus set out to systematically deceive people about who he was and how their sins were to be dealt with, then he was among the worst teachers that have ever walked the earth.

The second thing that we might say about Jesus is that his claims were false and he didn’t know it, in which case he was a lunatic. If Jesus believed that his claims about himself were true, and they weren’t, then he was a delusional egomaniac. If an ordinary person believes himself to be God incarnate, then that person is, put quite simply, insane.

Again, if this were the case, if Jesus taught that this is who he was and was mistaken, then he was as bad a teacher as there has ever been.

The third thing that we might say about Jesus is that his claims were true, in which case he was, and is, Lord. If Jesus believed that his claims about himself were true and they were, then Jesus was not only a great human being, but was also God on Earth.

If we take Jesus seriously, then we must take Jesus’ claims about himself seriously. We cannot say that Jesus was a great teacher whom we admire and look up to, but that the most fundamental element of his teachings was a monumental error. Jesus was not a great, but merely human, teacher; he was either much less than this, or much more.

Those who respond to this argument by writing Jesus off as either a liar or a lunatic are, for all that has been said so far, just as reasonable as those who respond by accepting Jesus as Lord. This argument is an attack only on the view that Jesus was a great teacher but not God; there is nothing in it that counts against the view that Jesus was a terrible teacher. In order to show that it is better to view Jesus as Lord than as either a liar or a lunatic, it would have to be demonstrated that there is some reason to take Jesus’ claims seriously.

Do we have any reason, though, to take Jesus’ claims seriously? Many have argued that we do, that we have the strongest possible evidence that Jesus knew what he was talking about when it came to the supernatural. There is, it is argued, substantial historical evidence that Jesus was raised from the dead, endorsing his claims to religious authority.

The Resurrection, it is said, was a divine endorsement of Jesus’ teachings, God’s confirmation that Jesus’ teachings were true. If this is correct, then there can be no doubt as to which of the three positions concerning Jesus outlined above is the correct one. If there is significant evidence for the resurrection, then we have to take Jesus seriously.

local...I think NHBB and I have a similar view - I think that Jesus was a great man. Being Catholic, I believe Jesus is the son of God. My issue, and I think Bear will agree with me on this, is NOT with Jesus...but with those who claim to be disciples of Jesus yet living lives totally in opposition of what he taught. It's not Jesus...it's many of the hypocrites that claim to follow him. My dad said, after a "good Christian" did work on his house (dad would have done it himself but was undergoing chemo at the time) and basically ripped him off "Never trust a man with a fish on his truck - he'll screw you over quicker than the heathens".

I'll close with a joke from another site I post on:

A man was being tailgated by a stressed out woman on a busy boulevard. Suddenly, the light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing,
stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.

The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in frustration as she missed her chance to get through the intersection, dropping her cell phone and makeup.

As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up. He took her to the police station where she was searched, finger printed, photographed, and placed in a holding cell.

After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects.

He said, 'I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you, and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the 'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Choose Life' License plate holder, the 'Follow Me to Sunday-School' bumper Sticker, And the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk, Naturally...

I assumed you had stolen the car.'

THAT'S the issue with many "Christians" - especially the ones who "advertise" their faith.

Thanx for the article......."12" !

KCF,

A LARGE part of my opinion of Jesus, comes from the CONFLICT of the BIBLE itself.

The BIBLE................a "WRITTEN" piece of work.

If one believes in JC...then you also must believe in the WRITTEN Bible(new testament)

Which begs the question;
What about people(many very very good people) who NEVER used the written word to communicate, like,..... Native Americans.

Does ANYONE mean to suggest, that a people who loved and Cared for the Earth, knew(VERY WELL), and worshipped the CREATOR(aka..GOD), and were VERY familiar with the Evil Spirit(Satan)....EXEMPT from that glorious place in the afterlife(Something that the Indians DID believe in strongly/Afterlife) ??

THINK.......THINK.....THINK......THINK people, LONG and HARD about these 2 simple FACTS !!

1. We All know that this world is a very DIVERSE and different from each other, PLACE !!

2. That virtually EVERY religion BELIEVES in this one thing TOGETHER...that there is a lone HIGHER POWER. !!

It's at this stage, that the CREATOR(God), when finished, looked down and went .."WHOA"....."I really did create a large and very Diverse population. Now how can I get them ALL to live GOOD lives ???(THE ONLY ONE THING THAT ALL THE RELIGIONS BELIEVE IN)

GOD needed different humans(tools if you will) to facilitate the task. Just like a mechanic uses different tools to do the job(screwdrivers/wrench's/hammers etc), GOD/Creator used DIFFERENT prophets like Jesus, Mohammad(and other prophets) to......."THATS RIGHT YOU GUYS,......................... C'MON, YOU ALREADY KNOW THE ANSWER".............................."get the human world to try to live a good and peaceful existance"

(How'm I doing so far ..."12" ) ???
