I used to work in Oakland and I remember US Airways being big there before Southwest gobbled up all the gates. Was this US Airways' west coast hub back then?

After merging with PSA, US Air had a large presence in OAK, with nonstop service to LAX,SNA,BUR,ONT,SAN and maybe LAS if i am correct.
However, US operations in SFO,SAN and LAX were much larger at the time. These three cities(espically SAN) were the core of the PSA empire.

Hopefully you will see a bigger US Airways in the Bay Area.
OAK-PHL,OAK-CLT and SJC-PHL service I can see being started within the next year. SMF-PHL as well might be a good idea.
I think HP may have pulled out of the SFO-JFK,BOS market, but I might be wrong.

While San Diego was always PSA's headquarters city, in terms of flight operations LAX and SFO were always much larger.
The final PSA timetable (February 1988) shows 101 weekday departures from LAX, 93 from SFO, and 40 from SAN. OAK had 21.

Just for comparison, Southwest currently runs about 130 weekday OAK departures, about 120 from LAX, and just under 90 from SAN.
