Time for a new topic. Merry Christmas & happy holidays to everyone.
necigrad said:The scanners don't improve MBR. They improve accountability and tracking. But that's all right, the companty doesnt' care about MBR anyway. The ACARS update from a couple months ago killed tossing bags on after push. Now that causes the block out to be reset and the ramp is responsible. I for one will let late bags miss instead of being written up for a delay.
Management 101- "You don't need a shop steward because I not going to issue disapline", says the manager. It is your contractual right to have a union steward with you if YOU believe it may lead to disapline. It is also protected under the wingarten ruling in federal court. My opinion is never trust management and always have someone there.BWI has been using the dumb scanners since Nov. Last night our late inbound from CLT we still used the scanner and instead of a quick turn the plane left 40 min late cuz we were using the scanners. Also, one of the night shift mgrs told me that if we get written up, we wont be allowed to have a union rep with us. I told him "hold on and let me contact my union rep about that" he told me you can have a union rep if you are going to be put on a level. I said we will see about that. of course he is one that doesnt give a rep about us the employees who are working 3 planes at one time--one being a phx flight

Any Hub bound flight is more time consuming to load due to the zone loading procedures. Bouncing from bin to bin trying to separate, scan, and count bags all at once can be a nightmare in comparison to a flight that is going to an outstation. Scanning procedures slow down the loading/unloading to a large degree, and without an extra person dedicated to scanning it is 10x worse. You can't add and extra task without the proper staffing and expect it to take the same amount of time as it did before. It is even worse when you have a Hub bound flight leaving from another Hub with the ABR's dropping off a steady flow of bags all over the place.I hate to ask but...what's bad about the PHX flight?
On seven flights I worked on today we scanned bags on two of them...

Right, no, I mean, I didn't know if he meant there was something specifically bad about PHX inbounds. Would love to get customer feedback on this issue.![]()
