Additional points to consider:
1. Some observers believe that if the rank-and-file vote "No" there could be some sort of a job action, whether legal or not, and then the airline will immediately shutdown.
2. The company's proposal provides a 15-week severance package and if no airline, no 15 weeks of pay.
3. If there is a shutdown due to a job action, whether legal or not, most States will not pay unemployment benefits.
Thus, many IAM members believe that a "No" vote means no company, no 15 weeks pay, no unemployment benefits, no COBRA, no J4J, no recall rights and every IAM member losing their job and transition money.
How do you believe that would be perceived across the kitchen table as she watches her hubby vote No to "Send Them a Message!"
Do I like this? No, of course not, but the IAM contracts have been terminated and now it's time to salvage as much as possible.
