Icefield Helicopter Tours

As to the ''vasiline'' ( learn to spell son) there will be none of that unless you count the BigHorn sheep. There everywhere!!!

There?????????????

Pulling pitch,
Could it be possible that they tell you that you're going to be flying soon just to string you along?....you know the 'carrot and the donkey' sort of thing? What about insurance? How large is their alumni who have made flight status?

I can certainly sympathize with any of my fellow low-timers that, sometimes there just seems be no way that one would get a chance to prove themselves. But I draw the line at working for free. You do not, but if you and all your fellow volunteers-and anyone else who desires to be a part of this company-all say "I won't work for nothing"...this company will not be able to get away with it, and will have to compensate their staff. And all of you do deserve it.

On another note....If you're volunteering for a business (any business) what happens if you're injured? Lost time? Seriously injured?

Sharky

You are on the ball there dude.....Pulling Pitch what does happen if you hurt yourself? And I sure hope like hell that you have this in writing that you will get the chance to fly one day...I have been that donkey a few times before...but nowhere near this bad. Something still isn''t right, What about that insurance??? You have to give your head a shake and start asking these questions now before it is too late. I hope you can afford a good lawyer....never know you may need it. But if you do make it good for ya...I will stick with my 140 hours of which 40 were given to me for hard work. I wish you the best either way.[😉 I guess what I am saying is I would rather not fly then be exploited in the long run.

Not only are you exploiting yourself but your not setting a good example for the rest of the low-timers that need to get payed when they get that job.
The industries standards are low enough with pay as it is.

Pulling Pitch, when the bubble bursts and the bottom falls out of your mountain meadow paradise would you consider coming back and telling us all about it? It would be great for all the other low timers. It would help ease their minds that they made the right decision not to prostitute themselves.

I expect in a year or two that they will have real paying jobs while you are still waiting for that cockpit seat. Unfortunately they will not be making as much as they should because of others that are willing to accept less than they are due.

Hey Pulling Pitch, there''s a book called "How to make friends and influence people" I think that you should read it. Slapping people for spelling mistakes (son) and rubbing all your low time peers faces in it, is a good way to get hated, fast.

Now I''m really confused. I have been told by learned people, that there is a pilot shortage. Perhaps they meant there aren''t enough short pilots? Should I therefore assume, that the only people working for no wages are tall people? Where''s that leave me, being of average height? I guess every second day there is a need for pilots of my height then. Could someone clear this up for me, because at my height, perhaps I only get paid every second day? Pay attention here Downwash.....this could have a bearing on the wages Downwind receives. Could it be that CTD is overpaid also?

OK, now I'm confused as well. Apart from being horribly overpaid, I am also getting shorter. Started my career at 6' and have lost over an inch from 20-odd years of slouching in ergonomically bereft cockpits

Cap, where would you say that leaves me?

Mr. Pitch, as some of the lads have said, methinks you will soon find out what a wonderfully small industry we have. I will guarantee you with all certainty that one of these low-time pilots will one day have fuel that you need, or be your tent mate on a long winter job, or even better, your operations manager. With reference to your post, it is riddled with spelling and punctuation errors, as the very esteemed 4961 and others have pointed out.

Read between the lines on the unsolicited advice, son. A little humility can go a long way.

Fellas, Fellas Fellas...and or Ladies,

I by no means intended or intend to offend any of you. I may have lacked some humility in the first post... However, everyone seemed to have something to say bad about this place having little more than second hand information. I''ve done the tour and as everyone knows the pickings are slim. To each his own and I wish you all good luck with you endevours. I am however enjoying the collective/ constructive criticism... I should have never crossed the spelling line. I know that we are all in this because somewhere along the line math and/or english eluded us. As for the truth, if you have any valid questions... don''t be afraid to ask.

sincerely...Riddled

Hey Puller,

What a great place to squash rumors. Heres your chance.

Vasuline - Vasiline... Ok ya got me. At least you spelled that one right. Figures. Shall I begin to point out your mistakes?

(Whilst editing: I see they've already pointed them out. Guess I should have read the entire thread first.)

Another Story for Low Timers

I finished up a scenic flight a couple of days ago and was washing up the AStar when a 100hr guy came into the hangar to talk to the CP. They chatted fer bit while I worked away not really paying attention. The CP must have liked the guy because he said he could probably get him a summer position working around the hangar and driving the pickup. This young chap then says, "I'm going to look for something better. If I can't find anything, I'll come back and work for you."

Oppsie... Hope he finds something cause the boss wasn't too impressed.

These icefields will soon roast. This pitch pulling dog will soon be giving boat tours.

So here''s a question for ya all. Whats the difference between a 100 hour guy that will fly for free and an experienced idiot that will "pad" the hours or fly for less than the rest of us, to make himself look good and get on his knees for the customer, bending over for job security?

I personally have more respect for the newbie, trying to get his career started than the insecure moron screwing it for all of us!!!

Traits that are started early in ones career can follow for a lifetime. You fly like a cowboy now chances are your gonna do it for a long time. You fly out of trim now, you will do the same at 15,000 hours.

Think about it before you do something that is uncommon place in the standard of the industry...

When do the good of the few out weight the good of the many?

Vertical Ref, This is new to me. I have never heard of an expierenced pilot giving himself away. Not saying it doesnt happen. But I would like to hear a little more of what you know about this. I believe most of us
would always like to have more money, that is the bottom line. I know the IFR world has problems like this with ex-military pilots in the U.S. I''m sorry but I can''t respect anyone that will do it for free.
It just baffles me to think that there is a pilot out there that would go into a company and say that he will fly for less then anyone else will. More detail please.
