What's new

I'll take Jesus

You know, if you stop and think about that statement, and the direction the religious right would like us to go (no gay marriage, no abortions, prayer in school), it only demonstrates the reason why religion and politics shouldn't mix.
"Once Christianity dominates, anyone living inside the Christian state must abide by our rules. There is no choice. You will abide or face the punishment,"
Ask any doctor who has performed abortions and had his clinic bombed or been shot at if Jesus has overzealous followers.

You have a valid point, however it seems in all countries that have gone to Islamic fundamentalism that this is the only way, either you convert and accept Allah or you die.
I don't think we have public executions of nonbelievers of the Christian faith here yet.
And as to overzealous followers, curious thing, the muslims all over the world seem unwilling to speak out against crimes in the name of Allah. Why is that then?

I wonder if is the same effect as in Nazi Germany. The sane out number the insane but they are fearful of the mob mentality.

I prefer that faith remain private and behind closed doors.

Faith behind closed doors on your own terms is fine but these people seem quite intent on forcing you to worship their god on their terms or you have problems.
In regard to Nazi Germany,I think more of the Islamic faith hold these radical tenets than those who don't.Quite basically,it is their culture and the way they were raised from childhood.

You are correct in your statements..."MD" !

Truth be told, the Evangelicals(although not there) are MORE headed in the direction of Islam, than AWAY from it.

I keep a CLOSE eye on BOTH !!!!!!!!!!!

I fail to see the correlation between the two and in fact there is a vast contrast concerning them, but rather than being redundant and risk more attacks from the left on Christianity by exposing Islam for what it really is, I think I'll just set back and watch the trap that has been set snare its prey.

I don't disagree there local...there IS a vast difference between religions. But...and this is important...that difference isn't really all that great when you talk about the extremists from EITHER group. Is shooting a doctor who performs abortions right or wrong? Is bombing his clinic? Because there are groups of "good Christians" who seem to think that it's hunky dory to do that....the old "eye for an eye" argument. In essence, the abortion doctor doesn't agree with the religious sect...so is it okay to kill him because he isn't a believer?

KC, the vast difference is this.... Christ did'nt come to slaughter in God's name but to save ALL!
Even to his own accusers he showed Gods love and mercy.

When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword? And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him. Luke 22:49-51

There are very few who go to such extremes in the name of Christianity that you throw out there as an example, but rest assured they are not Christians. to answer your question no its not OK to kill him/her The Abortion Doctor, They have left that to a higher power and will surely be judged as you and I.

And my belief is this - if one chooses to have an abortion, let's leave it to the higher power to determine if they were right or wrong. Let's not make it into a law. And....those that shoot abortion doctors and bomb their clinics certainly claim to be "good Christians"...just as some who fly jetliners into buildings claim to be "good Muslims".

My next door neighbor is a "lapsed Muslim"...He is Iranian, was raised a Muslim, but now attends a Unitarian church. I was raised a Catholic, but I too seem to have found more of a home in a Unitarian church. My old neighbor was a practicing Muslim. He never seemed to want to kill me because I wasn't a Muslim. There are extremists in every group.

If I had my way, we'd have nothing to do with the Middle East...not Iran, Iraq, Syria...or Israel. Let them decide who wins amongst themselves. But were there on a "crusade" (Bush's word), and while I'd like nothing more that to turn the ones who attacked us into dust...we didn't. He's still walking. He's still making videos. We invaded a country that did nothing to us...but who had a Muslim population. You know, I'd much prefer that the Muslim extremists do what they wanted to depose a leader who was repressing them and gassing them. But....we stepped in. We stepped in several years ago and armed the guy because the OTHER Muslim country didn't like us too much. That didn't win us any "Muslim brownie points". We stepped in in 1991 and urged them to rise up and overthrow Saddam. They tried...we sat back and watched them get gassed by the guy. You know, nothing will ever justify killing thousands by flying planes into buildings. But if you step back a minute and see what we've done over there...it's not too hard to understand why they hate us.

If abortion is illegal, how did they get murdered in an ‘Abortion Clinic?’ It’s the use of abortion as a method of birth control that is the underlying issue. Protecting the unprotected and ensuing that a life is not terminated based on bad decisions. ‘Life’ has ramifications that are sometimes life lessons. I know you have had them as well as I.
Let’s not even get into the HIV/STD component of having unprotected sex.

Abortion is not illegal. And it will not be illegal for the next 5 years at least.

Religion has no place in the public sector. You believe life begins at conception, others have a different view. As far as I am concerned, the woman carrying the Zygote/Fetus/Embryo/infant/baby or what ever you want to call it has the final say over her body. Until men start to pop them out, I am not sure why we have any say in the matter what so ever.

When you get raped and conceive a child let me know what your feeling are then. Actually, don't bother, they are our feelings and someone else may have different opinion after their experience. When a womans life is at risk, it is their choice who lives and who dies.

If the religions would get off their duff and walk into the 21st century and advocate safe sex, the number of abortions and your children with STD's would decrease dramatically but no, they would rather stay in the dark ages and promote practices that are archaic and sexist. And they wonder why people are leaving the 'flock'.

Religious freas are found in all denominations. To be safe, I stay as far away from all religion as much as possible. Much safer that way.

Speaking of religious nut jobs. Has anyone caught the news about the Congressional investigation into some of the evangelical bastards. I forgot the name of the coupe but they have a 18,000 sq ft hous and a 20 million dollar jet. Can someone explain to me why they are a tax exempt organization? I could care less if the idiots are not reading the prayer cards they get in the mail or if they are ripping off their members. The fact that he gets to live in a 18,000 sq ft house, tax exempt gets my goat. They guy is a crook and he is allowed to get away with it. Gotta love religion in this country. Lenin had it right.
