Question for UA/CO guys(or gals)
I have been looking into work done at other airlines and comparing them. I am having a hard time finding out just what UA does in house. I know its the only place in the US to get the big PW4000 overhauled but other than that I'm kind of at a loss. If someone can just kinda give a quick summary it would be nice.

Well, I don't work at UA anymore but I just had dinner with a few friends last week.
As far as I know,
SFO is still doing the PW4000 and PW2000, Landing gear for the A320 and B777 (not sure if 757/767).
Some C checks for the fleet.
Some component maintenance (shell of what it once was).
Maybe someone active can give you a better answer.

I think DL still does the PW4000 in ATL also.

Delta does the PW4000-94 (so 94in fan)
ie the 767/747 PW4000. I believe the PW4000-100s are done out of house. (330 engine. No idea who does them? sure its someone in Asia. *sigh*)
UA is the only shop in the US that i know of that does the big PW4000 which is the 112in fan. which is the 777 Prat.

The Delta 4000 line does a good bit of MRO along with the 767 fleet's engines. (again, no idea about the Delta north equipment. ATL may be doing the 747 engines or they may be done by a vendor. I don't even know if the Airbus's are done by Delta or the NW PW2000s.....

Third seat thanks for the answer. Any idea on the CO fleet?

DL is doing the NW PW2000 and I think the A320/A319 engines inhouse. Not sure about the big bus or the 747.

big bus is a no. Don't have a cell that can run the bigger PW4000s on them.

are you talking about the typical week long c-check? if yes does that mean all of your overhauls are done out of house?

sorry for the re-hash of the old thread. Any CO guys/gals care to say what they do/don't do in house?
