I know rumors are rampant...duh...but the local 1781 people are REALLY insinuating that the IAM is prepared in letting the company do what they want with the facility, ie shutdown. 757/767 engineering is already moving back to the bay area from there. BTW, the big rigs are rolling at OAK, packing up alot of maintenance stands and equipment outside the facility. When they start breaking down the stands on the empty docks, won''t have to guess whats happening then huh

The IAM is powerless against UAL. The company is going to do whatever they want to. With the IAM's blessings. If the IAM had any power or desire to protect the membership they would have been in court a long time ago. Farm-out is over limit. People were walked for doing their job. When will it end? The company needs to hold to the contract we have in place now. How can we be asked to vote on a concession agreement when they won't stick to the one we have now? I see UA going in the direction of no in-house maintenance. The very few with 20+ years will be around to do light overnight maintenance or be at the gates at larger stations. If that is what they want then they should do it. Just do it without violating contracts.
