I'm thinking about applying to work for American Airlines. I can't seem to find a phone number to ask them some questions. Can anyone send me the premiums for their insurance? Thanks.

Welcome to US Aviation.

Generally, AA isn't hiring, but there are always exceptions.

Just my two cents, but why not wait until AA has made you a job offer to get into the fine print about its benefit packages? Seems to me a little bit like a cart is in front of a horse here.

I am not going to waste my time applying for a job if the benefits are not what I need or if they are not affordable. I am not going to take time off of my current job to apply for a job that I am not informed about. I do my research prior to applying for any job because it's the whole package that I am interested in, not just the title that they advertise. And yes, according to what they have on their website, they are currently hiring.

You may need to give more info like, what work group you are applying for. I don't think we all get the same benefits.

Paying for a portion of the coverage may suck, but I always thought the coverage provided was excellent, particularly the managed care plan. Didn't have any experience with the 80/20 or the HMO plans.

Now that I've had to look at the cost of insurance outside AA, the portion AA is charging employees for the coverage is entirely reasonable for family coverage. Try living with a $4000 annual deductible....

Considering this years premiums were increased by 220 dollars and my Flex of 1500 is allready gone 4000 wont be a problem I hope it wont go above 5000 this year. Reasonable hardly just another part of the concessions to add to the morale booster.

Do yourself a huge favor and try to get on with Southwest. Their benefits are better and you will be much happier there. I have 19 years with AA myself and I have friends in various departments at LUV, all of em are very satisfied.

It is probably about half but guaranteed to go up every year its the AAmericn way

You're probably right if our health care system remains status quo, but I heard the President say that his (and Nancy Pelosi's) new nationalized health care system will change things. I assume that means your health coverage will get cheaper every year. No longer will the evil capitalist system gouge the good working man year after year to pay for their health coverage. 😀

I pay $256.88 per month for a family of 4. I think AA's sounds affordable.

Not just the "premium" one should look at though.

Most peeps I work around put $1500+ in the Flex Spending Account for co-pays, out-of-pocket charges, and Meds.

Everyone of them have depleted funds and account balances of ZERO by August.

I put $1500 into my Flex Account and as of last week had $164 left.

Not to mention the administrator of the Flex Spending Account threatens your account if you don't show proof of expenditures within 21 days.

I know of many recieving threats.

There might be worse plans out there, but that sure as hell doesn't mean AA's plan doesn't SUCK
